This is a really nicely laid out venue that’s well suited for all sorts of events. We attended the BBC community heroes awards here. The door staff were friendly and the drinks reception was really nicely delivered. The reception room has quite a low ceiling so it did feel rather claustrophobic but there were a good number of us in there! The bar service was slow for most of the night, and I think some people would have been happy with the slower service if there had been some confidence in the staff to manage the queue, they seemed quite unsure how to establish who was next in line and that put a lot of pressure on them, this was even the case when the bar was quieter. They were friendly though and happy to help. The main event room was beautifully decorated and the seating arrangement was good - the tables in the back corners had a limited view of the stage, but there was plenty space to move chairs to accommodate. I can imagine that for a stage production this is a really wonderful venue.
The sound was good, and there are accessible entrances and exits for wheels.
The meal was basic, but in fact the food was very tasty, and the venue made a great deal of effort to cater for dietary requirements which was much appreciated. Some of the service was a little rusty, plates and forks stacked at my place setting, dropped, wait staff unsure what ‘dietary dish’ they were bringing to the table. And we were missed from the tea and coffee. It’s not an easy environment to serve in, but that’s my main area for improvement.
I’d like to visit the Preston Guildhall again for a theatre show or similar, I imagine this is...

Messy areas.. teens smoking weed outside every night which isn't there fault but very intimidating to be near... outsidecares full of chewing gum on floor outside. .... They need to upgrade certain areas and until they do I will not be returning anytime soon.
Shame really .. it's needs to be much better in many ways.
P.s the lanes really didn't work.. I saw a semi pro player using massive spin but it went straight and he was not happy!!!!
Like any business they need to keep on top of things Staff training is a must. Arms folded On...
Read moreI went to see the Sensational 60's experience in the Grand Hall. The parking was good, and it was easy to get into the Guild Hall from the car park. The entrance to the Guild Hall from the car park was very dated, shabby and in desperate need of an make over. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful. The seating was good, comfortable and there was a good view, the acoustics were very good and the show was great. This was overshadowed by the temperature, I was absolutely freezing, there was a cold draught and I had to sit with my coat on. I was told there was a problem with the heating when I mentioned it to the staff. The queue for the ladies toilets was ridiculous, I went up to the Charter Theatre toilets and when I came back down the queue had hardly moved. In summary, good parking , great show, poor facilities that need updating and the heating needs...
