Went to see poet Louise Fazackerley at the Ferret a few doors up but they'd just stopped serving food. Someone at the bar suggested there was an Indian cafe up the street which turned out, of course, to be Rana's Spice. We were expecting a daytime curry cafe type thing or maybe RK Dining if we were lucky. Staff were polite and friendly, but it was the food that blew us away. On the menu Vegan stuff was marked with a V, with a marker by the looks of it, but they understood non-dairy. We took a chance on a dosa, which is the litmus test of a good South Indian and boom! 10/10. Crispy, good filling, nice samber. Then came the Channa dish, chappatis, a bit of a wait then Mixed veg/fluffy boiled rice 3 samosas in quick succession. Spicy. What is the perfect amount of spice? I use this yardstick - if the food was any more spicy it would be TOO spicy. Perfect then. We've trekked all over the place for good South Indian cuisine, including driving to Prashad in Bradford a good few times and all the time the best food we've had is just up the road Preston. Could well be going to see more stuff at the Ferret in the near future just to visit again....
Read moreFood is ok. Basically it is not up to UK standards. When you sit there it feels like sitting in 3rd class hotel in India. Table and seating are not comfortable. I tried to get in to the toilet and its door was not closing and full of clutter in it and cannot use it. There is no washing facility in this hotel and is strange. Hotel can easily rate from its toilet and washable area. Thee are other far better Indian hotels in Preston and would deal customer better. Customer service is not good as i been dealt with a front of house lady. Overall you get pure Indian treatment and...

All the guests absolutely loved the food and had enough to go for second helping. Very generous portions. One of his friend Himanshu delivered and provided the service. What a lovely man, made sure to feed everyone with so much patience and care....
