Chamo is easily one of Prestons best food spots currently. There menue is small however the quality of the food is 5* Excellent thought out flavor profiles to each dish ive tired recently via takeaway. After takeing a wonder down to there pop up at chews yard and there flagship restaurant on moor Lane the exspirence is well worth your time. The quality off the food and flavors is on par with some of the best restaurants in the North. They have truly understood the market and what is missing in our area, and it shows. South American food done to a very high standard while mixing it up with some fusion. Flavor profiles of each dish follows fundamental principles around fat & acid that shows in a incredible way. My tacos were presented with some dill pickles deep fried in a very gentle thin batter that cut through the dish beautifully. While packing a punch of savoury notes from the oyster mushrooms that blend perfectly with all there mouth watering sauces. Nothing ive tried has been underwhelming while everything ive tasted plays a vital role in each dish while no one flavor is over powered. It walks a fine line between culinary excellence & fine art. Very creative! Take nothing for granted as its an excellent experience to be taken, eaten & enjoeyd. Vibes in this small food spot are chill, with some 90s hiphop quietly being played while you wait for your meals to be freshly prepared in there open kitchen. A gentle reminder that cooking in the open requires extra attention to detail. It shows with there surgically clean kitchen with zero chaos and no clutter. There team of staff being very small clearly work very hard and are very helpful, friendly, passionate and they eagerly serve you mouth watering meals.
Take a date, family, friends or go solo like myself as you will feel very welcome and relaxed.
Highly recommend and look forward to more trips to there store & pop up for a weekly changing menue...
Read moreWe needed to eat in Preston on a Wednesday evening, and were looking for somewhere new to us, informal vibe, with high quality, interesting, tasty food, vegetarian/pescatarian options and open beyond 8.30pm. Google maps as usual was very helpful, and Chamo delighted us.
Don't judge Chamo by its location in a somewhat austere 1970s-style building - stereotypically we may have expected to find a kebab takeaway here but inside is a clean and bright small restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. We were walk-ins relatively late; I don't know how busy they get earlier on but, in view of the limited capacity, I would suggest reserving. We were greeted immediately, looked after very hospitably and given help with the menu choices.
The menu is small with south-American inspired dishes such as tacos and arepas. However, these were lovingly prepared in front of us using high quality ingredients, better than we may have expected from elsewhere. Our dishes were light, extremely fresh, sensationally flavoursome and attractively presented. Some interesting international pairings are available e.g. the Vietnamese salad. We left feeling well looked-after, not over-stuffed and raving about our experience.
Some of this food can be eaten with the fingers but, due maybe to lack of practice, I needed to use cutlery. This leads to my only, tiny gripe: the tacos were served on a slate, which is fine, but with the ubiquitous custom-printed greaseproof paper plate liner. Despite the custom branding, these don't impress and inevitably become damp by the end of the course, so that using cutlery just makes them disintegrate into a soggy mess. Plates and slates are waterproof, oil-proof and washable - they don't need paper liners.
We look forward...

Our order was a symphony of flavors: 🌮 The arepas, with their golden crispy chicken bits nestled between, were a true masterpiece. The chili jam brought a delightful zing, and the rich chicken gravy elevated it to another level, making each bite a memorable experience.
🍌 The sesame plantain was a sweet and savory sensation. The crispy outside gave way to tender sweetness on the inside, and when dipped in the accompanying sweet chili sauce, it unleashed an explosion of rich flavors in my mouth.
🤤 Coxinha beef, oh my! These tiny flavor bombs were a revelation. Each bite offered an exquisite explosion of taste, the spicy Mexican cheese marrying perfectly with the fluffy mash, and then deep-fried to golden perfection. It was impossible to resist their allure.
🧀 The enpanadas de queso, a true delight for cheese lovers! With every bite, I was transported to a world of cheesy, gooey ecstasy. The warm, oozing cheese filling made me momentarily forget about all my daily worries.
The ambiance at Chamo is perfect for a chill quick bite at anytime, and the staff's warmth and hospitality added to the overall experience. I'm already daydreaming about my next visit; this place is a true gem for food...
