The Vinyl Tap isn't just a great pub; it's a genuine cultural hub for music lovers. It perfectly balances the cozy, relaxed atmosphere you want in a local bar with the electric energy of a top-tier live music venue. This is the place to be for anyone who appreciates a good drink and world-class sound. What truly sets the Tap apart is its incredible commitment to hosting an international lineup of bands. Where else can you grab a cold drink and catch a touring act from across the globe in such an intimate setting? The small size actually works to its advantage, making every gig feel like a private show. The sound system is fantastic, delivering a punchy and clear experience that honors the performers, whether they’re local legends or visiting rock stars. Beyond the music, the pub itself is superb. They have an excellent selection of drinks and a genuinely friendly staff who are clearly passionate about both music and hospitality. The vinyl theme is woven throughout the decor, creating a unique and nostalgic vibe that encourages discovery. If you’re looking to catch an amazing gig, discover your new favorite band (especially one you wouldn't normally see in a smaller city), and enjoy it all with a great drink in hand, look no further. The Vinyl Tap is an absolute gem and a must-visit...
Read moreVinyl Tap is a great real ale pub, craft ales in cans & is a musicians dream pub. Right opposite the Central Lancashire university.
During the day they play an eclectic choice of vinyl records, chosen by the staff & their customers (and also a play on the words of the mockumentary band Spinal Tap). Where the amp goes to 11 - 1 louder.
They also serve pub food, toastie, burgers etc - haven't tried these.
During the week, Mondays from 8.30 is John Cruickshank's open mic night's, where musicians, wannabe musicians, amateur players etc all meet up, they're a really supportive group and inspire me to play and become a better artist.
Not sure about other nights, but there's NME, music related books, various comic books etc.
Saturday nights are gig nights and usually free. The Landlord Sean is an ace bloke, popular with the customers and the other bar staff are great too & know what ales they're serving unlike other pubs of Preston, in big chain pubs.
Overall I like the venue, and highly...
Read moreVery expensive for what it is. 2pts cider, 1 fosters £14.00!! The owner responded to my review, saying the info was false. I gave it one star for food based on bar snack availability, not the non - functioning kitchen. The prices stated by the owner may be correct, but was NOT the price paid by myself. BTW, I have removed the one star rating for food, so yes I was reviewing the right venue. They also stated among the cheapest in the centre, not true. Same drinks in Northern way around £8.35. The same drinks in Grey friars is around £6.60.been again to nite, thought I would give it a second chance, fosters lager 3.80 wen its only 2.55 in Northern way is ridiculous hike. No reason for this hike at all. Latest hygiene ratings are...
