This can be a great place to visit on a night out in Preston. The staff are excellent and atmosphere is friendly and enjoyable. However what completely ruins the experience is the absolute ignorance, rudeness and disgusting attitude of the doorman who is usually on. He is so quick to judge and accuse. My friends and I have visited on multiple occasions and been allowed in no problems at all. Recently we went and were told by the doorman that a friend of mine was "on coke" and he could "see it from a mile off." That friend was denied entry. He was most certainly not on coke we are far from the type. We wouldn't even dream if smoking nevermind drugs such as coke. He was also not drunk in the slightest so it is obvious the bouncer is picking and chosing who he lets in and making excuses for people he doesn't seem to like. To make a bold accusation like this and then use it as an excuse against someone who strongly disagrees with the use of such drugs is completely rude and unprofessional and this should be addressed by a manager or someone higher up. The assumptions and accusations he makes could be really offensive to some people. On another recent occasion we were denied entry for wearing shorts that were above our knees. If this is the dress code them fair enough, however I had been in the week previously in the same outfit with no issues and when we were denied entry due to our shorts being too short he again made the same accusations before letting other people in wearing even shorter shorts. Its not just my group though, I have witnessed him speak and behave like this to multiple people from pther groups on multiple occasions. He's always ride to the nicest an most respectable people. Like Ive said previously no other pub, club or bar in Preston has ever had any issues with any of us and this place hadn't either until the Bouncers recent accusations and rudeness. I strongly advise you stay away from this place if you don't want to be heavily judged and treated awfully on the door, not to mention you might not be let in based on something you've never done in your entire life and wouldn't dream of doing. Hes made multiple people out to be something that they are not. Disgusting. Its a shame that I feel the need to say this because once you're inside (if you can get in without being judged and accused) then the place is phenomenal. The Staff are so lovely and it really is a great night out. But it's been simply ruined. I will not be returning until the bouncer is replaced or retrained and I most certainly advise anyone considering spending time here to avoid it at all costs. Its better to head to another bar or club where the doormen are friendly and make you feel safe and welcome. Its not worth the hassle here it really isn't. Some of the remarks the bouncer makes can really upset a person. It can play on their mind all night and ruin their night entirely. What if someone overthinks? Is an anxious person and scared of being accused of these things? It can be really upsetting its not right and it needs addressing sooner rather than later before too many people get upset or offended by his rude remarks and...

I'm updating my review to reflect the outstanding service and professionalism I experienced during a recent issue. The manager and a staff member at Ships and Giggles went above and beyond to address my concerns. They took the time to thoroughly investigate the matter, including reviewing CCTV footage, and provided me with a clear and detailed explanation of the situation. Their willingness to listen and ensure I had all the necessary information made a significant difference to me.

The manager was incredibly polite, approachable, and helpful throughout the entire process, ensuring that everything was handled fairly and respectfully. The clarification I received about the ban was both thorough and reasonable. Now that I’ve served the ban, I’m more than happy to update my review to acknowledge their efforts.

Additionally, I’d like to highlight their amazing pizza! It’s honestly some of the best I’ve had and one of the reasons I was so eager to resolve this matter. The quality of their food, combined with the exceptional customer service, speaks volumes about what they offer.

my friend was sitting quietly at a table with a glass of water while I was at the bar ordering a drink. While she was alone, the security officer approached her in an unnecessarily aggressive manner, standing over her and shouting that she needed to leave. She was not causing any disruption and was simply drinking water. When she reasonably asked why, the officer ordered her to “put the drink down now” and claimed she was too drunk, despite her only having water at that time.

This situation was handled with hostility and without any regard for her safety. If the officer genuinely believed she was intoxicated, attempting to remove her alone and without checking for her friends was entirely inappropriate and potentially unsafe.

When I attempted to calmly enquire about the situation, the officer falsely accused me of pushing him. This allegation is completely untrue and very distressing. I understand the officer was wearing a body camera, and I request that the footage be reviewed as it will confirm that no such incident took place.
