Well, where do I start? We knew Holmes Mill would be the venue for us the minute we stepped through the door to view it. Everything about the place reflected our personalities and style, it was just up our street.
We got married on 7.4.18, and was just so excited to see how things would unfold on our special day. All the way from the start, the events coordinators communicated so effectively and made sure every single aspect was discussed and catered for.
My partner is a wedding photographer and is at various wedding venues most weekends, but we can honestly say the service that Holmes Mill provides is second to none. We had nothing but compliments about how unique, quirky, friendly and relaxed HM was. We really feel it is a cut above the rest.
On the day, we cannot fault any aspect. The staff were out of this world. Stacey, Gemma and Emma especially were just outstanding, but the younger casual staff were also excellent. The food was also incredible, the chefs catered for many dietary requirements and the guests were more than happy.
We were apprehensive about using the Engine Room after the ceremony as it was very close to the visiting public. I can truly say we were in such a bubble with our friends and family we genuinely did not notice the public there! Any interaction we did have with members of the public were so positive and friendly and it was kind of nice to be made a fuss of!
I loved the flexibility HM provided. Nothing was ruled out, we were allowed to be as creative as we wished with the room dressing. We were bowled over with how amazing the room looked when we entered for the first time. It was really something special.
From morning until night, we were treated like royalty and made to feel so special. Everyone we dealt with went out of their way to make sure we were happy and I am so grateful for this. We had the most unbelievable day, and at the risk of sounding cliché, it truly was the best day of our lives.
The beauty of it is that we can now visit whenever we like and revisit all the treasured memories. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much.

Read moreBasic food and uninterested staff. The menu is extremely limited and offers not much more than what could be picked up at a burger van on the side of any random A road. The kids menu does not have chicken. The three cheese baked nachos (small) is huge. It does come with pulled pork for an extra £4 however, it's bathed in barbecue sauce without telling you! The staff: OMG these young kids have no idea what they're doing! We were served by a few of these and it honestly felt like it was their first day. The whole venue feels quite vague. As we walked in with our two children, the staff were less than welcoming. "Good afternoon do you have any tables free?" I said. "What for?" She said. "For eating at I said". "At the bar?" No no just a regular table or maybe a booth if you have one? She said let me go and see. She walked off and then announced come this way. We actually got a nice table that could have seated 6. We sat down and waited. Menus arrived within minutes with a young lad who was obviously in some sort of rush and acting as if the place was full. It was empty. The food isn't too bad, imagine a 5 guys burger and fries without the prestige that comes with a premium fast food company. One child didn't eat as they had no chicken on the menu, the other child enjoyed the fries (which came with cajun salt) not mentioned on the menu or by the server. Im sure the place is a hit with regulars and locals but for kids and people who have never been here before prepare to be underwhelmed by the staff and...
Read moreWent in for a beer on the way back from our day out. We came here because I like the beers and we know it is the drink the bar dry offer on a Monday. The first round was £12.65... I was gob smacked 1 stout (d.t.b.d.) 1 peroni and 1 pineapple juice. I knew the d.t.b.db beers are normally £2 and I am comfortable with the fact a peroni will be £6-7 but a pineapple juice nearly £4??? I went to order a second beerand the price of the d.t.b.d beers has gone up to 2.35 which is still a great deal - unfortunately the bar man could not tell me anything about the beers on offer taste wise which I think is really bad in a bar of this size. I questioned the perioni 6.40 fair enough the pineapple juice was in face nearly £4. Nearly twice the price of two pints???? I then went to grab an ice cream. I got a two scoop cone with a flake and when it was made it was the size of a one scoop from any other local ice cream place ... Went to pay.... £5.70 no indication on a board of pricing. The ice cream wasn't the best either. Much better off getting one from some of the gem spots locally. So glad I didn't order a separate one for my daughter and we shared because I would have had a heart attack. Disappointing visit. I normally rave about this place. Absolutely unaffordable for the...
