JUN YUE — Restaurant in Ribble Valley

Me and my family visited this restaurant last weekend upon recommendation and were very disappointed.

We noticed upon arrival that the restaurant was extremely busy with takeaway collections as well as parties waiting to be seated. We were eventually seated on a table directly next to a line of 10+ people awaiting takeaway collections and were sat for more than 30 minutes before we were seen to. We asked (twice) to be moved tables as we were sat in a really uncomfortable and crowded area and were eventually relocated. Overall, it took around 45 minutes for us to receive our first drink upon arrival.

We also overheard other parties complaining that they had booked a table and had been waited over half an hour to even be seated, despite other people arriving afterwards and being seated straight away.

In terms of the food, most of the appetisers were substandard other than the duck (the only dish thing deserving of a star) and our mains that we waited a further 45 minutes for were cold. It seemed as though the dishes had been waiting to be served for some time as the chicken curry had developed a skin that was very unappealing.

The service was also not up to par, with drinks orders being forgotten and then brought twice etc. although they did have a lot of staff working, the impression we got was that they had overbooked and weren’t able to keep up with the volume of orders coming in.

We were all left feeling very disappointed and wish that we would have walked out after we were initially seated in a waiting area crowded with people. Won’t...

Staying in a 4 star hotel but fancied a change from hotel food… so glad we did! Tom Yum Soup to start did not disappoint nor did the Szechuan Vegetable or the Sweet and Sour Chicken mains we ordered. Everything tasted ‘clean’ and fresh (not coated in thick batter or lathered in oil). We holiday in this area 3-4 times a year and will now be returning to this restaurant the next time we are here. We have had a few take out meals over the last two years but the one we had tonight was not as good. The chow mein was totally bland and the Cantonese ribs weren't as nice as before the food was not hot to say it had come out of the oven.
