Strange company/owners. Had issues around 6 years ago with the conquest hospital branch where they charged me for ice because thier fridges weren't cold enough to chill the drinks and failed to mention about their coffee stamps despite visiting everyday for 2 months straight, but this is all in my other review regarding 1066 bakery.
Fast foward to a recent visit to this branch in Bexhill, (first and last time giving 1066 another chance) and i ordered a frappe and asked for a stamp on a coffee card.... (un)shockingly, you can only collect stamps on hot drinks with 1066 bakery. Every single other place that runs a stamp scheme allow for any drinks to be stamped or collected. I say (un)shockingly as it's a shock outside of 1066 bakery but this really doesn't surprise me with them. I mean, if they can charge 50p for ice, then what shocks me the most is that they actually run a stamp scheme and give away a free item at the end of it. Probably have to part with some money at that point, but I won't ever get there.
I don't know if the owners are tight, greedy or are genuinely out to get me at this point but it's safe to say, 1066 bakery company is a strange business and one I won't be returning...
Read moreI'm a regular visitor to this cafe, sometimes to sit in, mainly to take away. The staff generally make you feel welcome and are pretty knowledgeable about their products.
The only thing I would say is that if you are intolerant to caffeine but want a decaff, make it clear that you need them to wash out the portafilter really well before filling it with the decaff coffee. Not that they don't that anyway, but sometimes there are beans left in with caffeine in. Speaking as someone who gets palpitations with the slightest bit of caffeine, and who has had this as a result of a decaff drink from this cafe more than once, it's so important to ask, and the staff always respond positively to this request.
That's an overly specific thing, I know, and I honestly can't criticise anything else from this branch. It's clean, well stocked and the staff make you...
