I had the worst customer service encounter I’ve ever encountered with this restaurant. If I could put 0 stars I would.
After purchasing a Groupon voucher and booking a table, I had to cancel last minute because my partner was rushed to hospital with a serious medical emergency. I contacted the restaurant as soon as possible to let them know we had to cancel.
Despite not receiving any service whatsoever, Laura, who I am assuming is the manager or owner, redeemed the voucher and refused to refund. She offered us the opportunity to rebook but due to my partners poor health I let her know this would not be possible before we fly back to Australia.
The owner was rude, dismissive and completely unprofessional when I called to follow up, after lengthy delays to my emails. Laura showed zero empathy or understanding, even when I explained that we were preparing for medical evacuation.
To be clear: we never dined there yet they marked the voucher as used and kept the money
Laura insisted we rebook - knowing full well we’re medically unable to, and that we’re leaving the country. I find it appalling that a business would behave this way, especially when someone is in a crisis.
I had contacted Groupon regarding the matter, they said they could not issue a refund without written confirmation from the merchant, which Laura agreed to via the phone and then failed to send, claiming she was too busy. She then claimed that she did not have the money and that Groupon needed to refund me.
This place is not just inconsiderate - it’s exploitative, and entirely lacking integrity. Shame on you for treating...
Read moreMyself and my daughter booked a sparkling afternoon tea here as a late birthday treat for me and a celebration for my daughter who has just qualified as a Paramedic. The tearoom is very quaint and has a great atmosphere with views to Battle Abbey and market square. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and shown to our reserved table with a glass of chilled Prosecco. The chef then came out with a beautifully made selection of finger sandwiches, hot sausage roll and the prettiest delectable cakes, scones and lemon dessert which really was deliciously made. A lovely pot of tea for two accompanied our little feast which was kindly topped up for our pleasure. Such a relaxing afternoon in an exquisite well loved restaurant, which is a credit to Battle and its community. We have now found our new place to be tearoom and will be back soon maybe even for Sunday lunch. Kind Regards to the whole Mrs Burton’s team. Tina &...
