It is extremely rare for me to visit this pub, but I have done so occasionally over many years. Yesterday (25.05.19) was such an occasion.
Not including the hotels in the area, this is the closest pub to Moorgate.
If you are wanting a quiet pub ie no music, this will fit the bill. There is one tap room, and two quieter rooms that are obviously more tranquil. I've always found the latter to be quite pleasant and relaxing.
The rooms appear to be decked out with pine, and are very clean with comfortable seating.
Being a Sam Smiths pub, the price of bitter (which is what I drink) is reasonable- currently £2 for a pint. If you are intending driving here for just one pint only-DON'T. The taste of this beer is awsome and you could easily be tempted to drink more in my opinion.
There is an outside drinking area with solid wooden tables/benches, and the usual car park.
Visiting from out of town: Although it could be described as being on a bus route, buses along Broom Valley Road are not very frequent, but there is a fix for this.
The quicker access is to catch a bus to Moorgate Rd, and walk for 6 minutes down Burnswick Rd. The pub is located at the bottom, off the small...

Very little pork, only three small slices, one of which was the end slice of the joint so was hard. The meat was also cold. I asked for apple sauce and was told âsorry, weâve run outâ. The shop next door (less than thirty metres away) sells apple sauce. Stuffing wasnât even roasted so was like a lump of clay. Roast potatoes were barely roasted- not crispy at all. Carrots werenât peeled. Peas were hard. Cabbage wasnât sliced so huge leaves splashed the (very lumpy) gravy everywhere. The cauliflower was nice, as was the Yorkshire pudding. The mash was nice too, but I think it was smash. ÂŁ8.95
The draconian mobile phone prohibition meant that while I waited for my food, instead of reading the news, all I had to entertain me was staring at the wall whilst listening to other customers talking about how stupid the ban...
