Riverside — Restaurant in Rotherham

Visited riverside in with a friend for dinner . Food was lovely . Nice sized portions, buy one get one free burger day . However equally important is the atmosphere of the establishment. My server was Louise . Not being people person I often find mixing with staff awkard and uncomfortable often leading to me not re visiting. However Louise had lovely calm sense of peace about her ,that put me at ease . She also went above and beyond to get anything I needed . I didn't feel that me keep asking for things was too much for her . Its was also nice how I saw how she would watch customer from a distance not to invade there space ,but know when to come and and offer dessert ,or ask how the food is,or simple take the plates . She was also friendly with the little ones. Which helps parents when children are being difficult. She was really good at distracting them . I never spend the time writing a review ,but felt that the food quality and staff as whole ,but especially Louise should be acknowledged for her customer service skills. Ty and...

UPDATE still a friendly place, mainly due to the staff. Fast becoming a regular haunt due to a change in working practices and a new customer. Can't find any reasons to look elsewhere, when you can come here for a quick pint or two, and your tea after a day's work.

OLD (obviously) Taking into consideration the new norm post Covid19, the staff have done a good job of trying to make it safe for both the customers and themselves. As to my visit, the young lady who was meeting and greeting was very apologetic when saying she didn't even have a table for one. But when I said I was happy to wait, she directed me to the bar and big screen showing the football, saying she'd make it her mission to find me a table, which she did within 10 to 15 minutes. The meal itself was although your usual Hungry Horse fare excellent, plentiful, hot and well presented, served quickly and with a cheerful smile. Requested diet coke which we got but charged us for full sugar version didn't get asked if we wanted ice. Asked to upgrade my sons meal for the extra €2 so he got a drink and dessert but the man that served us had no idea what dessert was included in the deal so I just gave up and asked for an icecream thinking it had a good chance of being included in the deal to which he said 1 or 2 scoopes I just said 1 as he couldn't say if 2 would cost more! Mine and my husbands meal arrived waited a long time for our sons but never turned up. No staff to ask so had to wait at the till again to see what was going on, luckily due to our bad experience when ordering I asked for a receipt so we had proof of what we ordered. By the time my sons meal arrived with no explanation what had gone wring my husband had finished his and mine was cold due to having to sort out my sons missing meal.
