We ordered from the lunchtime saver menu which has a pretty good selection of food for a very reasonable price. But you do get what you pay for. Fish and chips was ok at best, poor quality of fish engulfed in too much batter. My wife had the gammon and chips, nothing to write home about. We also had camembert for starter which came with 3 very small slices of bread (I’m talking crisp size). We thought it was strange as there clearly wasn’t enough, so we asked for more. Another 3 small slices delivered, fine.
We would have left quite happy but instead were extremely let down by the staff, particularly the manager. There was no complaints with our waiter, he was professional. But when we received the bill we noticed we had been charged 50p for extra bread for the camembert, we flat out refused to pay out of principle. Our waiter ushered the manager over, who is totally out of his depth. Started explaining how the decision lies with corporate and yabbering on about that’s how the company operates, which we couldn’t really care less about. It sounds petty, but why not just put ample bread in the first place and up the price of the camembert by 50p? Rather than having to let a customer pause their meal to ask for more and then having an awkward scene at the end. It’s just a very poor attempt in getting more money. Anyway, he said he “would refund on this occasion”. Lol Don’t worry, there won’t be another occasion! Upon leaving, we said thank you out of courtesy to one of the onlooking waiters, he ignored both of us in some kind of salute to his inept manager. My wife repeated her gratitude to him, to which he finally replied and mumbled he was in some sort of daze. But clearly he somehow was offended we’d taken his bread. He was a big boy, so I can understand. I hope he collected the 50p tip we left. Petty of me but I was annoyed...
I don’t usually leave reviews but I would like to think that the staff read these and can see where we’re coming from. We’re not tight, we’re just not happy to be taken for a ride. The manager really needs to listen to his customers rather than blaming corporate “my hands are tied” as it doesn’t wash. Take on your customers feedback and show...
Read moreTonight, 3 May 2024, my family and I dined at the Beefeater Farnborough. I have been to Beefeater Farnborough on three other occasions on a Friday night and each time I think the service and food will be better, the waitress staff on duty keep disappointing us. The staff on duty seemed very keen as they always do on Friday night to close and clear up. Whilst diners are eating, staff were so busy cleaning to lock up. They even turned away a woman who came in requesting a table advising that they close at 9pm. The Beefeater website clearly states that closing time is 11pm. The sirloin steak that I ordered arrived at my table luke warm. It tasted rubbery. My first bite was so unpleasant that I opted to politely call the waitress to ask for my steak to be redone. The waitress obliged and replaced my steak. The new steak was much warmer than its predecessor but tasted rancid, pretty much the same taste as the previous steak. After only having a few bites, my family and I decided that we have had enough. Both my husband and me are professional people and we are happy to spend any amount of money for good food on our Friday night evening dinners. My husband decided to pay for the bill and even paid for my rancid steak which was sent back unfinished. In summary, Beefeater Farnborough has appalling service and serves appalling food. ( the other members of my family seemed to find their food acceptable). We have taken a decision as a family never to eat at any of your Beefeater branches again and would gladly spend more money with your competitors knowing that we would get better quality of food and great service, not a rushed service. It will not surprise me if you note a decline in your sales performance at your Farnborough...
Read moreHonestly an appalling experience. In short, the service was slow, and far and few between, and it's not like the restaurant was busy. Our soda tasted bad and we asked to get it changed and was met with a level of passive aggression and suggested we get bottles ("do you want something else?" in a tone of inpatience) after being told "there's nothing wrong with it". Our server took our order without writing anything down, and then had to double check what we wanted, and we watched them do this with 2 other tables. Our food was brought to us and put on the table without the server saying anything. There was no check in to make sure everything was okay with our meal. Both the burger and the pasta we ordered were chewy and had the consistency of food that had been reheated. Due to the lack of communication, my partner was not told the dish his cannelloni was in was incredibly hot, and so he burnt his finger on it. A customer from another table had to get up and flag down a server because no one was paying them any attention. The accessible toilet was broken and blocked, and when I flagged this to a staff member behind the bar, he huffed and rolled his eyes before going to lock the bathroom. The other toilets also had a blocked cubicle. The entire visit was chaotic, uncomfortable and unprofessional, and we left feeling disappointed and scammed out of £34. I'm absolutely not the kind of person who will complain about nothing for the sake of it, but this needs to be flagged up because the whole visit overall left a LOT...
