We visited this restaurant as a crew of four (three pilots and one flight attendant). The place is popular among flight crews because it’s close to the airport, and we’ve visited this place multiple times — but unfortunately, this visit left a very bad impression.
One of the staff members took advantage of the fact that we were only visiting once before flying out the next day. We were overcharged for one large beer, one small beer, and a large Sprite instead of a small one.
What makes it worse is that we still left a tip, unaware that the waiter had already helped himself to an extra one by adding drinks we never ordered.
The bill was paid by one colleague, and when we reviewed it together the next day before reimbursing him, we discovered the discrepancy.
It would be great if the restaurant manager could review our receipt and compare it with the actual order we made (listed below). Honest mistakes can happen — but this didn’t feel like one.
Our order:
Kukhura chana + garlic naan Piro kukhura + garlic naan Khasi rogan + paratha Chicken tikka + keema roti 3x large cobra 1x small cobra 1x large everest 1x 0,5 sprite 1x Small sprite
We were also offered the starter - poppadums with chutneys.
The total paid price was 120£.
To be clear, it’s not about the few extra euros – it’s about the principle and honesty. We always support good service but this kind of behavior is simply...
Read moreIt has become a ritual between work mates to end the week in a nice place with nice food. This is how I came to be in Gurkha Palace 3 times in the past 3 months. The advantage of going in large groups (10+) is that you get to have a go to more dishes, hence the temptation to compare and to make mental notes on what you should order in the future if your choice went wrong. But in this respect, the vocabulary of dishes just got more sophisticated as the more you tried your mates choices, the more you start to make them yours. Gurkha Palace is a gourmet place. It is its strength and its downfall. If you're hungry, you'll leave more hungry. The portions are just enough to keep you entertained. Is like somebody's watching carefully your physical shape. The staff looks bored. The beer overpriced. The place crowded. The facilities run down. The food experience it might be something you sought but the atmosphere is not.
Few days later I came back with a different group. This time I wasn't hungry, I came for the food. But... The lamb dish didn't taste as good as expected . Few inquiries along the table confirmed: not a good day in the kitchen. More or less expected, understandable. But the prices were the same, the staff looks like the effects of the last bore didn't wear themselves off. Facilities? Same...

Read moreUnderwhelming , Basic decor cheap furniture to . Greeted by waiter and asked what Nepalese food he recommended... answer chicken or lamb is good . I pushed a little harder and said I wanted to try good Nepalese's food so what did he recommend ... The waiters answer was truthful but surprising " he said sir we cater for British market so don't really offer true Nepalese food ... and so it proved .
The food was lacking in depth of flavour and spice everything just didn't marry well and the chicken just looks as it had just been added to a creamy Sause moments before it came to the table. All the veg tasted the same and were overloaded with onions , oddly our two mains came with big slices of salad tomatoes the were not really cooked but it was odd they were there ?
As we were talking during the meal 4 different waiters came to ask us if we had finished our meal .... as the place was busy it seemed like they wanted us to go so on the 5th time we said ok and left .
Not really a good curry place , ok if you like bland...
