Harvester – Comfort food shared with the people that you love
Thank you for your hospitality when I visited your Salford Quays branch last Friday for a pre-theatre meal.
Food and menu
The menu is simple, effective and is easy to read. On the left hand side you have a great selection of appetisers which cater for a variety of tastes. This consists of Garlic Bread, Prawns, Potato Skins, Calamari and many more. This is delivered in a tapas style in which you can share 3 or 4 starters together.
There is a great mixture of mains from the grill, fish and chips, burgers, steak and vegetarian options with good sides that provide a great addition to any main. This includes fries, dirty fires, onion rings and sweet potato fries to name a few.
Desserts cater for the sweet lovers and chocolate lovers from the indulgent Chocolate Fudge Cake to an offering of a mini dessert with a hot drink. There are also waffles and sundaes if you love cold puddings.
All dishes have a great description giving you an insight of the dish and any sauces that come with it. In addition, one of the things about Harvester is that you can get a free salad from the bar and their soft drinks are refilled from the machine.
For the starters the Crackerjack Prawns were delicious. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which melted in the mouth. It was lovely with the sweet chilli sauce. The Chicken Strips were tasty with a great flavour. The Calamari on the other hand were yummy and it was not chewy or overcooked.
The Southern Fried Chicken Burger was tasty and moist. The bap was soft and the Chicken was crispy on the outside but lovely and soft in the mouth. The Barbecue sauce was a great addition to the burger which was nice and not dry. The sweet potato fries are always a great addition with any main and are so soft and moist. Dipping the fries into the mayonnaise is a great thing to do.
The Chocolate Brownie is heaven, rich and indulgent. The Vanilla Ice Cream on the other hand cuts through the richness of the chocolate flavour which also provides a refreshing edge to the dessert.
Service
Jamie our waiter was friendly, pleasant and attentive. He gave us the time to choose our dishes from the menu and also provided great recommendations when we were stuck for ideas. The food came pretty quick and it was all presented to a great standard.
Lighting
The level of lighting at this restaurant is decent. We sat on a lovely big table with good lighting in which there is no trouble seeing the food that you eat. This made the experience worthwhile. If you have a sight problem then visiting Harvester is ideal if you like comfort food that is cooked very well.
Parking
You can park at the multi-storey car park for Quayside Media City UK (formerly the Lowry). You can also use your blue badge for disabled parking in which your ticket can be stamped giving you 4 hours free. This begins from the time of your arrival.
Pricing
The restaurant pricing is value for money. The cost of the food on the menu is...
Read moreAlthough the food is nice it's pretty pricey for basic pub grub. I only dine here if there's a good offer available. My biggest gripe is the staff are annoying and do not cope very well during peak times. I went in for lunch and the place was admittedly very busy but that's no excuse for the staff to leave me waiting at the reservation desk for 10 minutes plus before finding me a seat. Several staff saw me waiting and although some acknowledged me they did not give me any attention. When I was finally seated I got my order ready via the app because I was dining with friends, I find it easier to use the app so then I don't have to bother with splitting the bill faff at the end of the meal. With the app you have piece of mind that you have already paid and also that your food amendments have been made. At the final stage of checking out with the app I needed the table number which isn't displayed on the tables. I asked a waitress "what's my table number please" her response "I'm doing table service". I didn't want or ask for that, I want to self order via the app and had already picked my meal, put it in my basket and was ready to check out. When she came to our table 5 minutes later I asked AGAIN for the table number she said "I'm doing table service I'll take you order now" again this isn't what I asked. She was pretty determined to not let me order via the app so I begrudgingly gave her my order along with my friends. This then meant at the end of the meal we had the malarkey of getting calculators out and totalling up each person's bill which wouldn't have happened if I was allowed to order separately. To make matters worse, the amendment I wanted of no sauce on my burger wasn't followed. So this waitress not only didn't answer my questions, made my experience a pain with the bill but she also got my order wrong.
On a different separate occasion me and my friends sat at a table and got comfy. A few moments later a waiter approached us and asked us to move to a less nice table in a cramped corner even though one of my friends needs a walking stick and cannot walk very far. I don't like being told where to sit like I'm a child or moved as a customer, especially when on this occasion the place was almost empty. So why the waiter made us cramp together in a corner with the few other customers in there is ridiculous.
I will admit the food is tasty and portions are pretty good here but it does take a while to arrive once you've ordered. Plus the annoying staff is just too...
Read moreWe recently visited Harvester Quayside at The Lowry MediaCityUK and had the pleasure of being served by their fantastic waitress named Lucy and Elaine. From the moment we walked in, Lucy and Elaine greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. They led us to a cosy booth, which was perfect for a relaxed dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, with a pleasant buzz of conversation that added to the overall atmosphere.
There were 4 of us, so we had the Triple Chicken Combo and the Skewers, both of which turned out to be excellent choices. The Triple Chicken Combo was a flavourful medley, showcasing different preparations of chicken that were cooked to perfection. Each element was juicy and seasoned just right, definitely a dish we would recommend to anyone looking for hearty flavours.
The Skewers were equally impressive. Grilled to perfection, they were tender and packed with delightful spices. The accompanying dips were a nice touch, elevating the dish with additional layers of flavour. Both dishes were generously portioned, ensuring that we left with satisfied appetites.
Lucy and Elaine checked in on us regularly, striking a perfect balance between being attentive and allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Their cheerful demeanour and knowledge of the menu truly enhanced our dining experience. It’s clear that they take pride in their work and care about their customers.
Overall, our visit to Harvester was a delightful one, thanks in no small part to Lucy’s and Elaine’s excellent service. The food was delicious, and the comfortable booth seating added to the enjoyable atmosphere. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and attentive service. We look forward to our next visit!
