I genuinely want to like this place but it's a total let down. Firstly there is seating outside with a nice view of the quays and it has "shelter". Whoever built this is either trolling real hard or completely forgot that this is Britain. The "shelter" consists of separated wooden bars with huge gaps in between, as you'll see in my pic. It doesn't shelter you from rain or anything at all. When it rains, which happens daily in this country you'll see that everyone will move inside. Second flaw is the floor. It's a smooth marble surface. When it rains, it's like an ice rink. Again, in a country where you have warm weather and alot of sunny days it would be perfect. But for Salford.... Forget it. As for the food outlets, after you order your food you get given a buzzer to take with you to alert you when the food is ready - we ordered from the dumplings place and waited around 30 mins. We also ordered a pizza - the buzzer went off so went to pick up food - gave the girl behind the counter the buzzer and she took it and started a conversation with another customer. So we waited. And waited. When we caught her attention we told her we gave her our buzzer to which she replied "yeh?". So we asked her where our pizza is. She pointed to the side and said "there it is". The general bar staff and floor staff are all agency and most don't have a clue about anything. Again I really want to like this place because it's something new and different to the Lowry center but for the prices that are charged, the food and service is unfortunately sub par. The only good thing is that we can take our dog as it's dog friendly.

15/10/24: loved the concept of Cargo MKT, but expected so much more. Kind of enjoyed the experience, but felt there was something missing. It was no Mackie Mayor which has an ambiance. Dog friendly! Didn't appreciate the £1 premium for ordering food from the table, rather than directly from the restaurant. Boba Cha provided an excellent Lychee Tea. Over priced at £6.50 but it still tasted great. Hence, 5 stars for tea and 4 stars for the overall experience and price. Super Fry Guys could have been excellent and the joy on her face before tucking into the Salt n Pepper Chicken & Salt n Pepper chips, with curry sauce! The chicken didn't taste of salt n pepper. It was over cooked, hard, chewy and dry. Very disappointing. We both tried it! It looked the part, but lacked everything it should have been. The chips, which seemed to be frozen chips recooked had an empty bite and seemed showed and flaky in the middle. It's as if they'd been cooked and re cooked and had just lost their substance. Everything was smothered in mayonnaise and hot sauce which just didn't go with the curry sauce. The curry sauce however was chunky and flavoursome. Disappointed! What's Your Beef was ok. I had the Bacon double cheese burger, with BBQ sauce and naked fries. The fries were outstanding, the burger was good, although not very hot considering it was picked up immediately upon notification. This isn't so much a negative review, rather than a neutral one. However, I'll end by saying that if we go back, I'll be trying the Loaded Duck Fries!!

What an amazing new place in the MediaCity and Salford area. So many interesting food traders to choose from (both inside the main venue and also just outside and down the stairs by the water), I can't wait to visit again to try more places. This time I went to Rio-Mex (by the water, with some lovely comfy seats outside) and the Mexican fries (delicious), croquettes (surprisingly filling and the sauce is excellent), Brazil-style churros (I could eat these all day, so indulgent!) and a chocolate ice-cream and dulce lece waffle sandwich (unbelievable). I also had a Margherita pizza (with burrata) from Leopard Pie (so so nice, especially the crusts). Highly recommend both of these (I added photos of everything). Overall, a fantastic place that I'm looking forward to visiting again, and glad it is dog friendly. Only feedback I'd give is the floor just outside the main venue entrance gets very slippy if it's been raining (I can imagine it'll get worse during winter) and the main place inside was a little too loud for me personally, but outside had a really nice vibe, especially the vendors by the water. It'll be even better when they have a QR code so I can just find a table, order and then relax. But I understand Kargo has only just opened so I'm sure it'll get better once all that is sorted!

Visited on Sunday 5th October , arrived at 5pm .Every single table was occupied with multiple people waiting & looking for people to leave to get a table. We managed to sit near the bar but not at a proper table , one of our group circled twice in the first hour for a table with no success. Finally after 1.5hrs we all just stood waiting like vultures for a table & literally was just about to leave & go else where we ran to a table to secure it , someone came over to clear the table from the previous people , she literally just took the left over stuff , table not wiped down & was very dirty . We were a group of 4 & 3 of us were literally sweating & red faces as it was so hot like the heating was on full, literally every seat taken , it was packed to bursting . I ate from a different outlet because it had fabulous reviews & was extremely disappointed the taco were literally swimming in grease . Sorry but the whole experience was dreadful , 2 of the group had been on previous visits & said never seen it like this before. 1.5 hrs wait for table , wait for food , dirty table, shouting to be heard , sweating , red face boiling hot like you have the heating on full blast & then disappointing food to top it off. Left with a banging headache . Was supose to be a nice relaxing, evening seeing friends & having food & was just disappointing in every way. I am aware theatre shows were on at lowery which could of added to the amount of people, but think once you have reached capacity with every seat & table occupied then you need to have a system & people are stopped from entering & can enter once a table becomes available instead of multiple groups of people circurling like vultures & running to tables. This is the worst review I have ever left & was so excited to visit after seeing all the great reviews. Hope others get to have a...

This place is a like a service station on a motorway. If you live in town, please think think and think again going to this place. There are much nicer places in and out of town that deserve your money and time. However, if you hate your life and fancy an emotional, psycological and financial trauma, Kargo is the place to get it all. Terrible service with over priced tatsteless food with zero ambiance. You have to go order overpriced food and collect it yourself and by the time you are back with a bleep, your seats might have been taken and your belongings might have already been removed by some random person and you will have to go on another journey all bamboozled as there wont be anyone around as there are no servers. Its like a prison’s mess where you have to protect your space. We ordered from whats your beef and I must say, it was the tastless most dry burger one can get and for the first time ever I trusted google reviews about this place. They even charge you 1.50£ for like 2 -3 grams of ketchup or bbq sauce. We thought chips were expensive, so ordered chips from the fry guys, 5£ for 12 chips in total, ( I counted them), thats 2.4 chips for a pound. Their open wraps, NO PLEASE. Google reviews are absolutely true for whats your beef, but I was mislead by instagram. And the bar does not have the menu, and the bar staff does not know wts going on or wt drinks are available. You better go general with words beer, vodka or gin, because if you mentioned the name of the any drink or cocktail, you are most probably gona hurt and confuse the bar staff and that is on your consience. 10£ for an Aperol spritz??? In that place with the service and food they provide? Could not believe my ears. If you value your time, money and energy, please spend it in a place thats worth it, not at this...

Has a lot of potential, but really does feel unfinished. Comparing the indoor to the outdoor is a real contrast, here. Outdoor, you’ve got premium varnished wood slats with LED light bars. Though, the iron furniture is far from comfortable, and really doesn’t suit the aesthetic at all- as well as it making you lose your food and drink by it dropping through the gaps. The whole outdoor could feel like an all-inclusive hotel. Indoor, doesn’t compare. Building site-style festoon lighting drapes the ceiling, and the whole place feels far from permanent, with the odd projector up on the wall. Could really benefit from some permanent light fixtures and LED colour uplighting. Sound system is pretty lackluster. JBL Control speakers never feel welcoming, look very budget and sound tinny. Definitely needs Martin Audio spec for this kind of space. Baring in mind that this is “salford’s new hub”, don’t be completely fooled by the Instagram influencer press night. Food is generally pretty expensive- one outlet had sold out at around 18:15 on a Saturday evening, and the size of the general floor doesn’t suite the absolute lack of toilets. Service on the bar is pretty slow, and pretty understaffed. The entire outdoor area was being tidied up by only one member of staff, which was ridiculous. You’d be lucky to be served in under ten minutes at the bar, though the selection of drinks is pretty good- with premium drinks on sale. Probably one of the best draught lineups at MediaCity. Comparing this to competitors such as New Century and Society, it feels that Kargo has a long way to go, and the competitors have the upper hand at the moment, and the social media lead up to the launch feels a bit overrated and doesn’t really live up to what...
