What an amazing new place in the MediaCity and Salford area. So many interesting food traders to choose from (both inside the main venue and also just outside and down the stairs by the water), I can't wait to visit again to try more places. This time I went to Rio-Mex (by the water, with some lovely comfy seats outside) and the Mexican fries (delicious), croquettes (surprisingly filling and the sauce is excellent), Brazil-style churros (I could eat these all day, so indulgent!) and a chocolate ice-cream and dulce lece waffle sandwich (unbelievable). I also had a Margherita pizza (with burrata) from Leopard Pie (so so nice, especially the crusts). Highly recommend both of these (I added photos of everything). Overall, a fantastic place that I'm looking forward to visiting again, and glad it is dog friendly. Only feedback I'd give is the floor just outside the main venue entrance gets very slippy if it's been raining (I can imagine it'll get worse during winter) and the main place inside was a little too loud for me personally, but outside had a really nice vibe, especially the vendors by the water. It'll be even better when they have a QR code so I can just find a table, order and then relax. But I understand Kargo has only just opened so I'm sure it'll get better once all that is sorted!

I genuinely want to like this place but it's a total let down. Firstly there is seating outside with a nice view of the quays and it has "shelter". Whoever built this is either trolling real hard or completely forgot that this is Britain. The "shelter" consists of separated wooden bars with huge gaps in between, as you'll see in my pic. It doesn't shelter you from rain or anything at all. When it rains, which happens daily in this country you'll see that everyone will move inside. Second flaw is the floor. It's a smooth marble surface. When it rains, it's like an ice rink. Again, in a country where you have warm weather and alot of sunny days it would be perfect. But for Salford.... Forget it. As for the food outlets, after you order your food you get given a buzzer to take with you to alert you when the food is ready - we ordered from the dumplings place and waited around 30 mins. We also ordered a pizza - the buzzer went off so went to pick up food - gave the girl behind the counter the buzzer and she took it and started a conversation with another customer. So we waited. And waited. When we caught her attention we told her we gave her our buzzer to which she replied "yeh?". So we asked her where our pizza is. She pointed to the side and said "there it is". The general bar staff and floor staff are all agency and most don't have a clue about anything. Again I really want to like this place because it's something new and different to the Lowry center but for the prices that are charged, the food and service is unfortunately sub par. The only good thing is that we can take our dog as it's dog friendly.

15/10/24: loved the concept of Cargo MKT, but expected so much more. Kind of enjoyed the experience, but felt there was something missing. It was no Mackie Mayor which has an ambiance. Dog friendly! Didn't appreciate the £1 premium for ordering food from the table, rather than directly from the restaurant. Boba Cha provided an excellent Lychee Tea. Over priced at £6.50 but it still tasted great. Hence, 5 stars for tea and 4 stars for the overall experience and price. Super Fry Guys could have been excellent and the joy on her face before tucking into the Salt n Pepper Chicken & Salt n Pepper chips, with curry sauce! The chicken didn't taste of salt n pepper. It was over cooked, hard, chewy and dry. Very disappointing. We both tried it! It looked the part, but lacked everything it should have been. The chips, which seemed to be frozen chips recooked had an empty bite and seemed showed and flaky in the middle. It's as if they'd been cooked and re cooked and had just lost their substance. Everything was smothered in mayonnaise and hot sauce which just didn't go with the curry sauce. The curry sauce however was chunky and flavoursome. Disappointed! What's Your Beef was ok. I had the Bacon double cheese burger, with BBQ sauce and naked fries. The fries were outstanding, the burger was good, although not very hot considering it was picked up immediately upon notification. This isn't so much a negative review, rather than a neutral one. However, I'll end by saying that if we go back, I'll be trying the Loaded Duck Fries!!

Went this afternoon on a recommendation of the food. Would not recommend going on a weekend afternoon - it was rammed! Took ages to find a free table. There aren't any menus online (that I could find) so you have to walk around all the stalls to decide what you want. The bar didn't have a menu so no idea what drinks they had there! It's a little bit of an overwhelming nightmare for anyone with a splash of neurodiversity but our fault for going at a peak time I guess. Was charged £7 for two americanos and was told the prices (£3 each) on the menu they had out were wrong. Food was excellent to be fair, but it would need to be for the prices! There are a few more food places outside the main hall which we missed, which was a shame as they looked great and so much less busy. I had the vegan selection from House of Habesha which was delicious! Lots of other places had sold out of their vegan options. Have attached photos of most of the menus.

I wonder why it took me so long to go and explore this amazing place. It's like everything under one roof which means food + drinks that too with variety. If you haven't decided from the beginning what you want to eat, this place will definitely leave you confused, cos there are so many options to choose from. Right from carribbean/Jamaican, Palestinian, Korean, Chinese, Ethiopian, Italian, Greek, Vietnamese and a few more. Although I tried only 2 dishes and a couple of drinks, I'm sure I'd go back to try more food. I had some fresh falafel from Baitu which is a Palestinian kitchen and amazing Hummus with Pita from That Ziki. The place is huge with ample seating inside and outside. There are unisex toilets near the main entrance. Each restaurant gives you a buzzer which beeps when your food is ready to be collected from their counter. This is inside the media City mall but they have a few outlets near the bbc building as well.

Great concept and much needed in the area. Lots of choice - something for everyone. We went as a family of 5, incl.3 kids and we all had something different. We had 2 Palestinian dishes, Korean fried chicken, Malatang build your own soup and a burger. If I'm honest, Baity (Palestinian) was a little disappointing. Musakhan was good. But my lamb Maqloba had 4 tiny pieces of lamb - expected more for £16. Korean chicken was really good, as well as the Burger. Malatang soup was such a good value-huge! Quite spicy though even though we chose the least spicy option for the 10yr old. I found the tables were quite dirty and sticky even though we sat at a clean table. All in all , good experience but could be much better. Especially for the price. Quite expensive for what it is.
