Ad Maiora - Italian Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Salford

I will start this review by saying that this place sells the most delicious sandwiches ever. I am a super loyal customer, almost exclusively coming here every time I visit Kargo mkt. However I’ve just experienced the worst service I’ve had in a really long time, and made to feel humiliated. I arrived at around 11.30am 22/01/25, I hadn’t realised it doesn’t open until 12pm but there was a man behind the counter. He stood talking to a girl, who also clearly worked at Kargo mkt as they were talking about the cold temperature. And as I waited to ask if they were open I was completely 100% ignored. Like I was a ghost, the man did not even glance at me. I stood there with my baby in the pram for what felt like an eternity but what was more like a very awkward 2 minutes. Eventually I walked away in disbelief as the man continued to ignore me. I’m so disappointed. Don’t want to give them my money again, went to egg and Co instead which was lovely anyway. This is 4.5 - the first sandwich I had was the Haaland. A good mix of salat, cheese, and meat. My wife ordered with extra meat and she absolutely loved it! My most previous sandwich was with the fennel salami. There was too much focus on the meat. I had to take some of it out to enjoy the sandwich as a whole. I had added extra elements which helped. The bread was a bit too heavy for me and it was difficult to cut. In Manchester, this is definitely one of the best sandwiches place, and I will be back for more. My partner and I went this afternoon, for a late lunch and picked up two Schiacciata sandwiches. I did build my own and he picked the zozzona. The ingredients were fresh and the size of the sandwich was bigger than my hand and had great amount of filling. The service was friendly and great and it was easy to communicate with Daniela over ordering. This is great to share and to have your own. I would definitely be recommending this and be going again.
