We visited Island Lounge in Wednesbury on 15th August at 7:30pm. On arrival, we were seated quickly, and the place itself looked nice. The gentleman who initially served us was polite and friendly, and I had no issues ordering.
As someone who has had weight loss surgery, I cannot eat large portions. I usually stick to starters or children’s meals as they are more suitable for me. I ordered a kids’ meal with no problem from the male server.
However, shortly after, a female waitress approached our table and said, in a sarcastic tone, “I see someone’s ordered a kids’ meal but I don’t see any kids.” This left me embarrassed, as I then had to explain in front of everyone that I’d had surgery to remove 80% of my stomach. Despite this, she dismissed me and insisted I order an adult meal. Her manner throughout was fake, unfriendly, and unnecessarily hostile.
When the food arrived, it was decent, and the cocktails were nice. As expected, I couldn’t finish my meal, so I politely asked for a takeaway box. She brought one, along with a bag, and again sarcastically said, “Do you need the bag?” — with a forced smile that made the whole situation uncomfortable. Of course, I needed the bag, but by this point the experience had already been ruined.
While the food and drinks were fine, the service from this waitress was appalling. She showed no compassion, professionalism, or basic customer service skills. More importantly, she openly made me feel uncomfortable about a very sensitive medical issue. Speaking to customers in that way is unacceptable, and it completely overshadowed what could have been a pleasant evening.
Unfortunately, because of this, I would not recommend Island Lounge and will not...
Read moreI have heard good things about this restaurant and it did in fact live up to the hype.
It is a local business and is clearly popular with both dine in and orders.
I went on a Sunday with a group of 5 adults and 4 children. I enjoyed the starter which was the ackee cup, it is not often you can get ackee without the saltfish, but I did here and it was great. I like saltfish but some times it's nice without it. I shared a platter for the mains with jerk chicken, jerk wings, lamb chops, jerk prawns and some sides. The food was tasty, very saucy..
My only gripe was that the lamb chops were tiny. I was initially going to order lamb chops, I am glad I didn't because if they were that tiny by themselves I would have been very sad. However, the prawns were massive and extremely tasty I could have eaten a whole bowl of just those. They were the best thing on the platter.
I also ordered some Mac and cheese bites, dumplings and plantain. All of which were great... The Mac and cheese bites were really good and the dumplings were big, crispy on the outside soft and fluffy in the middle.
The mocktails were mediocre.. I had a tropical mojito.
The pricing was decent, on average about £20- £30 per person.
Unfortunately the service was a bit slow however this was due to only one staff member on what was a busy night. However she held it down and kept her composure and did the best she could. We still ate. They have vegetarian options.
I would definitely reccomended visiting here, I will be going back just for the prawns alone.
I think expansion might be...
Read moreFound this little gem during lock down it became our regular takeaway on weekends since 2020. Found out recently they have had a refurb and now can eat in!! We couldn’t wait to visit as takeaways have always been bang on from island lounge .
To our expectation the dine in experience was so much better if it’s even possible!!!!!! We brought our 10 year old daughter along with us who is a complete foodie and who was so happy during her time here and felt so comfortable they made us feel at home she loved the whole vibe start to finish.
the cocktails was amazing and the food was out of this world tried other places in the past hoping for the same quality and experience but was always left disappointed I think I will remain loyal to these guys from now on .. we left full and could not finish everything on our plates (the portions are huge)we was offered to take our left overs home with us but our stomachs could not take anymore in! Even if we tried was ready to explode 🤣
Honestly the nicest experience and money well spent. My daughter enjoyed the chicken wings we all did. We always play it safe and always order browned stew so definitely can recommend that!! Need to start getting out our comfort zone and trying more items on the menu as I bet we are missing out on so much more!!! We’re already planning our next 1 and going to be coming to one of the bottomless wings and fries on a Wednesday evening so shall be seeing you all again soon once again thank you so much for a...
