Madras Indian restaurant — Restaurant in Sandwell

Visited the red oven today and ordered starters and a main for 4 people. Was told an incorrect offer at the start so had to change the order. Then waited an hour for the starters to come. Waited another half an hour for mains and decided to leave as no communication was provided by the waiting staff.

Upon informing the manager of the situation, I was told that it is the customers responsibility to ask about the progress of the order and not for the waiting staff to inform the customer. I was also told that I shouldn't be eating on the premises if I do not have a couple of hours to spend. At no point was I informed that the food would take this long and I am not sure why it takes that long, given the fact that delivery orders are available for the restaurant within 20 minutes.

Beautiful restaurant with lovely atmosphere but disappointing food paneer starter was amazing lamb chops were average but mein chicken curry has not fresh chicken but old overcook chicken that does not separate very well which is disappointing so we sent the food back and ask for replacement but received completely different curry with different taste it was very flavourless and the chicken was still solid and not tender it was very hard to peel the chicken apart. Naan did not seem fresh. But staff are very nice and very professional and take the chicken curry off The Bill which we were happy with as we did not enjoy. Maybe it's better to use fresh chicken. Visited today 25.5.14 for the Sunday lunch time buffet with my mom . A really lovely waiter called Remesh took care of us. He was very attentive , polite and never left you with a dirty plate on the table. Food was delicious , I was very happy as there were plenty of popodoms with dips and fresh salad . Our starter was beautiful, we had onion bhajis and spring rolls. For main there was a choice of chicken curry or a lentil curry and a nan bread brought to our table. We also tried some of the bombay potatoes which were beautiful too.
