I lived round the corner from this park as a teenager and spent hours in there with my mates or walking our dog, so I love to take my Westie here and walk her. A lot of improvements have been made recently, but it's still got the lovely grassy area and then the actual woods themselves. It's the sort of place that if you just want to quietly walk your dog, you can or if you want to be with others, you can.
Lots of on street parking, which does let it down slightly, maybe the Friends of the Woods could look into reopening the car park on Abbey Road, lots of benches to sit and relax and forget you are in the middle of a busy town, outdoor gym equipment and some swings by the gates in Abbey Road.
It's just a lovely place to walk a dog, take your kids to run round and also see a lot of nature, or just sit on a bench, people watch and enjoy the peace and quiet. My Westie (and...
Read moreRun by local people rather than local government, funded by the golf course and charitable donations Warley Woods is a beautiful and impeccably maintained piece of mostly wild parkland with a friendly community. Firmly recommended for walkers, dog walkers, runners and simple trips out into sunlight and fresh air, as it's easily the prettiest and cleanest of the local parks. The golf course is similarly well cared for by the volunteer staff and features off road parking, a modest but functional shop and a cafe. In recent years the woods have become home to numerous parakeets if tropical birds are your thing, but for the more patriotic twitcher there's a pretty massive variety of more traditionally British birds including a large number of almost overly friendly and intelligent crows. Going outside? The Woods is your best bet in this part of the...
Read moreWarley Woods community park (the people's park). Although in Sandwell, with Sandwell services this is not a Sandwell council park, it is as the signage suggest a community trust. It is a large site with a nine hole golf course. There are plenty of places to picnic and wide open spaces to run the dog. It seems to be about 2.5k steps to walk around the edge of the central park (avoiding the golf course). Looking at the other reviews we clearly missed part of the park 😳There is a gentle slope across the central area, several play areas including fenced play areas for younger children. The park always seems immaculate as far as litter, and where the signage has been broken someone has made the effort to put temporary signs saying when the sign budget renews they will be...
