Bella Italia — Restaurant in Scotland

We visited Bella Italia North Berwick today, to celebrate my 39th birthday, and overall, it was a pleasant experience—except for one glaring issue.

The food was absolutely fantastic! We had a pizza and a chicken dish in mushroom sauce, both of which were incredibly fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It was clear that the ingredients were high-quality, and the flavors were spot-on.

A special shoutout goes to Basia, the female waiter who took care of us. She was so polite, attentive, and genuinely made our dining experience enjoyable. She’s definitely a credit to the restaurant!

However, the one downside was the owner, who we found to be quite rude and seemed unhappy. As someone who owns and runs a restaurant, it's essential to treat customers with respect and kindness, and unfortunately, the owner's attitude was off-putting. It definitely put a bit of a damper on what would’ve otherwise been a perfect evening.

In conclusion, while the food and service from our server were excellent, the owner's poor attitude detracted from the overall experience. It’s a shame, because the potential for a great restaurant is there—if only the owner would take the time to greet customers with the same warmth as the rest of the team. Bella Italia has left me utterly enchanted with its culinary prowess! From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was in for a treat. The menu card, though not overly impressive at first glance, quickly proved to be an understated gem waiting to be explored.

With each bite, my skepticism dissolved into sheer delight. The food was simply outstanding, boasting an unmistakable freshness and an explosion of authentic Italian flavors that transported me straight to the heart of Italy itself. The chef's dedication to using the finest, locally sourced ingredients was evident in every dish.

During my three-week UK vacation, I sampled numerous Italian restaurants, but none came close to Bella Italia's divine offerings. The prices were more than fair, making the experience all the more enjoyable.

The attentive and friendly staff added to the overall charm of the place, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.

We've been coming to North Berwick for quite a while and wanted to try this restaurant, but sadly haven't been able too as we have a dog. So we decided to try their takeaway service and so glad we did. Rang and placed an order and they said it would take about 40mins. Ordered a margherita pizza, a calzone, a cheese focaccia and a portion of chips. Arrived 5mins early and food was ready right on time. First thing that struck me was there was a special box just for the calzone! Now I've had a lot of takeaway calzones over the years and this is the first time I've had one come in a different style of pizza box. It was much taller so that it wasn't squished. The food was excellent. Everything tasted so fresh and full of flavour. The calzone was chicken and ham, with a pot of tomato/basil sauce on the side.the garlic and cheese focaccia was epic and the margherita was just great. I'm just gutted I didn't order a tiramisu.
