My wife and I decided to have our first wedding anniversary meal here based on a recommendation from our friends who live in North Berwick.
I am so glad we did...
We were greeted by the staff immediately upon entering the cosy restaurant, the staff were polite and very welcoming. We were quickly shown to our table - which was well spaced away from other tables - rather than crammed in to fit more tables.
After a minute or two our drinks order was taken and the drinks were quickly brought to our table. We were then asked for our food order.
Around twenty minutes later we received our mains, piping hot and on a warm plate - perfect!
I fell in love with the carbonara immediately, which is the dish I try at every Italian restaurant I visit. This was without a doubt the best carbonara I have ever tasted. My wife ordered the spinach and ricotta tortelloni, she loved hers too.
The waiter that served us was very friendly and well mannered.
I went up to pay the bill and to let the staff know how much I had enjoyed the meal, after a delightful conversation, which lead to me telling the staff why we were there - our first anniversary - the gentleman behind the bar surprised us with a free nutella cheesecake! The cheesecake was accompanied by a sparkler and the word "love" on each side of the plate (written in chocolate). The waiter I spoke of earlier serenaded us with the song congratulations as he presented us with the cheesecake.
Overall, I cannot review Cucina Amore higher. I will be...
Read moreTasty last minute dinner request. We had a couple of hungry boys and one wanting deep fried squid. The resteraunt stepped up and sneeked us in before the evening rush. We did not tax the menu as we needed a quick hit. Family favorites 'pasta and pizza' were ordered (side of squid). Everything was tasty and fresh. Staff were attentive and helpful. No kids menu but more than willing to kid down items on the main menu. Quick treasure hunt for gents (hidden behind a fridge!). Happy to recomend if you are in town. Only a four star for the price which was around £14 for an adult 🍝 bolognese. Personal observation from visiting many Italian resteraunts is this is a little high for a family favorite. The dining experience is very good so as long as you are happy paying it's perfectly acceptable. It is however a reason I'd think twice about going again. No dedicated parking. Wheelchair access looks OK, disabled...
Read moreFirst visit to North Berwick and Cucina Amore. We went in early evening today for a quick dinner with our 2 year old boy. We were hoping to have a decent, if quick, dinner, that he would let us without melting down.
From the minute we went in, the staff were great. They arranged a high chair quickly, were helpful getting us settled and took a quick order of pasta for our son which arrived less than 5 mins later. This meant we could enjoy our dinner a bit more as he'd been mostly fed.
Our food was great, the staff were wonderful, couldn't do enough for us and the restaurant was perfectly laid out and decorated.
I would highly recommend a visit here. We will most definitely be back when we return to North Berwick. Well done Cucina Amore, a very comfortable 5 stars out...
