The food was good. Yet, an old waitress was unacceptably rude. Not only did she get our takeaway food order wrong, she went all the way out to take it back and sarcastically blame us. Also, we were queuing up for eat-in but she was annoyed and impolitely told us to wait multiple times despite the fact that there were customers leaving and there were empty table.
Add on: I’m afraid you have focused on the wrong aspect. The point I was trying to make here was the horrible service attitude. As an F&B industry, service is a major component and to me personally, it is one thing that should be taken into consideration most seriously. The waitress was exceptionally rude throughout. First of all, I understand that it was hectic for the staff as it was a busy hour. However, as I had noticed, the customers were queuing up to order takeaway while the staff was simply chatting with customers. When I walked up to ask whether it would be okay to order takeaway, the waitress RUDELY reply. That already gave me a terrible impression. I would not mind waiting but the terrible attitude absolutely took my patience away. Second, during the ordering process, the waitress was showing absolute impatience, which further worsen the experience. Thirdly, all the food was packaged. The waitress did not at all check the order with us. When she approached us to get the wrong item back, she blamed us on the fault. You can definitely say that we did not check the order either but the thing is, I was not aware of the food only after the staff approached us. On top of that, I believe it was a mutual responsibility when the food order was wrong. I surely had the responsibility to check up with the staff but it cannot be totally our fault. It is a MUTUAL RESPONSIBILITY. The waitress has no right or whatsoever to put the total blame on us. This was just utterly unacceptable. With regard to your response, you mentioned you have to priorities customer sitting. To begin, I mentioned absolutely nothing about that and you were just simply shifting the discussion topic. Second, is your response implying that other customers do not need to be served seriously? At least that is how I interpret that based on the way you are conveying it. All customers pay the same price and sitting in the restaurant does not give them a higher authority whatsoever. Last but not least, the reason why I am writing this review is not to blame the restaurant or anything. I notice that the restaurant reply to almost all reviews, which made me believe that the restaurant would take all advice into serious consideration and improve and that was the sole purpose of the review. But from what I see, all the restaurant does was defend and deny, which brings total disappointment. In your response, the only thing you were doing was to deny and explain all your actions to indirectly put the blame on the customers. That certainly shows the core value of shifting the blame away of the restaurant which to me, is the worst. I hope the add-on clarifies any unnecessary confusion. The food in the restaurant is certainly amazing. This is undeniable. But the service and the staff attitude made the entire dining experience undesirable and most certainly prevent customers...
Read moreWe visited the Rocketeer last week expecting a lovely experience along with the beautiful views. Instead we left rather disappointed with our dining experience. We arrived to be seated in the entrance underneath an air conditioning unit which, initially, we did not realise was on and blasting cold air directly onto us. I was sitting on a metal chair without a cushion which made me even colder. I had to crane to see the view as we did not feel we were fully in the restaurant but perched in the entrance. Looking at other diners I noticed they all had cushions on their chairs so I decided to swap my chair for one on the empty table behind me. The first chair I pick up had a dirty cushion so I replaced this and took a chair with a cleaner cushion. As I was doing this a lady staff member appeared from out of the kitchen and abruptly asked what the problem was. I replied there wasn’t a problem but my chair was missing a cushion so I was just swapping it for a chair with a cushion. She abruptly responded “I should have asked her for a cushion”. I was quite taken aback by her threatening tone and sat down on the replaced chair. She disappeared back into the kitchen without another word leaving me feeling very uncomfortable. We waited longer than expected for our order of fish and chips. While we waited the table behind us became occupied and I heard the lady sat there say brrr, again very cold in that area. I wasn’t the only customer feeling the cold. We did mention the cold to the waitress, and she mentioned that it gets hot in there, and didn’t turn it off / down.
Later, my husband leaned over to me and whispered “how long are we going to wait” only once again to have the same women spin around from serving another table to shout “its being plated up now!” , once again in a very abrupt and confrontational manner. Even at this point it was probably another 15 minutes before the food arrived. It wasn’t worth the wait. The food all tasted like it had been fried in the same unchanged and burnt oil. Even the offer of free drinks did not compensate for the awful manner of this woman. She appeared to have taken customer service lessons from Basil Fawlty. She totally ruined what should have been a nice meal out. I must say the service from the 2 other young staff was very attentive and faultless. It’s a shame 1 person ruined the evening. On going outside, 2 hours after arriving, it was significantly warmer than shivering inside. Needless to say we won’t...
Read moreI was in North Berwick for the weekend and left this morning to go back to my home in Ayrshire. I went to the Rocketeer Restaurant this morning for a cooked breakfast before I hit the road and It could not have been any better. 10/10. I arrived at the Rocketeer at 10:58/10:59, after walking out of another local hotel/bistro called "number 12" because they can't cook a cooked breakfast properly. Anyway that is not too important for my review. I was advised at the Rocketeer by the delightful lady who greeted me, that the breakfast finished at 11:00am but I was right on the cut off and I knew exactly what I wanted to order. I did not need a menu. I asked simply if it was cooked to order (it was) and could they squeeze another one out for me!? She very politely and gracefully accepted my order. I had a coffee and a full cooked breakfast. It was delicious. Everything was cooked to order, nothing seemed to be produced from a warming oven which makes a massive difference to a cooked breakfast. If I am ever in North Berwick again I will be trying lunch and dinner here not to mention another full cooked breakfast. It was honestly amazing. My dogs were given a couple of treats each without me asking for them. I was asked if I wanted a bowl of water for them. I did and it was brought for them. I was also brought a glass of water without asking for it. The price for a breakfast was £9.95 or so. The same price as the aforementioned "number 12". At "number 12" I gave my dogs the sausage, left the rest on the plate and went to tell them I was leaving. At the Rocketeer Restaurant I ate every single piece of it and it was outstanding. Do yourself a favour and get down to the Rocketeer if you are in North Berwick. You will not regret it. Thanks guys, very much...
