DO NOT GO!! I would give this place negative if I could, I have genuinely never been so disgusted in an establishment let alone a well known one.
Where do I begin .....the moment we stepped foot in the cafe, we were met with barriers we had to step around, and taken to our table, sounds ok right?? Well buckle up as this gets interesting.
We sat down and were given folded paper menus, really?? Ok I will let that pass ... Seeing the prices, and locally sourced produce advertised on the menu, I felt the price was fair.... Right??? Oh how silly of me ....
The waitress came and asked to take the order, so I said "a child's cheese toastie" (only a choice of ham or cheese for children) and then I asked for the chilli beef toastie from the main menu to where the waitress said "a kids one?"...... So unaware of her own menu she is serving. She never asked if there was any allergies (keep in mind for when I receive the food) I then said I'd like a side of chips as advertised only to be told "we don't do chips, we never have" .... Yet the menu clearly says chips. I then asked for a fruit shoot and a latte to then again rudely asked what kind so I said "it just says fruit shoot, you tell me what flavours you have".... I then had to again ask for a latte.
When she came with the drinks, she asked me to pay for the whole thing at that point!! Absolutely not!! This is meant to be a reputable cafe, not McDonald's.
Apon the food arriving, I was shocked to see it was a vegetable filled toastie with cheap crisps, also with bread containing seed that is a allergen and corn chips that also are an allergen. Thankfully I am not allergic however it is fundamental that all staff ask in advance about these things. To say local beef etc is false advertising as it is not and they are charging a fortune for Tesco cafe produce.
The staff stood around, the floor was covered in rubbish and old food. They used household cleaning sprays rather than COSHH approved cleaning products. When I asked to pay I was met with 5+ staff standing around talking and ignoring me until eventually I was asked if I needed help.
After paying we left feeling taken advantage of with the extortionate price for below quality food. To say this is what tourist's experience when visiting Scotland is scary.
Any visitors to Scotland please avoid this place, as a Scottish born and bred lass I apologise, this is NOT the...
Read moreMy family and I came to Loch Lomond on Friday. We were due on a boat trip at three o’clock but got there early so decided to go to sea life, which was a fantastic experience. We had a 3 year old and a 7 year old that was rather hungry after that so we went to the cafe, we arrived by two pm and got our order taken rather quickly which were 3 baked potatoes and a toasties for the adults and 2 toasties for the children the food took 45 mins to arrive and the children's toasties didn’t even come, we said to the lady taking our order that the kids wanted the cheese toasties so for the life of me, I don’t know why they didn’t write down the order accurately. We should have had the kids’ toasties for free but they made us pay for them even though they were clearly in the wrong. I totally understand that they were busy and it is a tourist attraction at the end of the day but it is unacceptable and they need to hire more staff, if they are struggling to meet the influx of customers/tourists who will naturally descend there. Not good enough. This resulted in us missing our boat trip and loosing out on 60 odd pounds that will...
Read moreHonestly, if you have the option, go somewhere else. Food was decent, if your expectations aren't high, or you are just hungry and glad to eat practically anything, otherwise you'd be very dissapointed. Service on the other hand was simply grotesque. Five young ladies were standing at the front desk, talking to each other, or looking to their phones the whole time, looking properly bored for their age. When food or drinks were ready, the lady at the bar had to yell on them two or three times so that one of them would finally go and serve it. I don't really get the point of having so many of them there even during rush hours, because the place isn't that big, let alone during the time of our visit when it was pretty calm, yet we have waited even longer than during the busiest time somewhere in the old city center in Edinburgh in a proper restaurant full of people. Food was served on a plates filled with cheap tortilla chips, no other options available, no utencils nor napkins provided, unless you ask for it. There are one or two other establishments in the same building, that surely can provide of much...
