Capital House Restaurant & Takeaway — Restaurant in Scotland

We stay at New Lanark quite often. This time tho we could only book B+B so decided to 'eat out'. We fancied Chinese food so went along to the Capital House. Both of us really enjoyed our food. Must say, it was absolutely delicious. The service was fast & efficient too. Where it greatly disappointed was it completely lacked any atmosphere or ambience. It's usually a treat for us to eat out, but to be honest, it felt more just like a takeaway with waiting tables & chairs, rather than a nice restaurant. Definetely wouldn't recommend it for a special occasion or romantic meal for two! The lights were full on bright, no music playing, and a group of young people (incl a baby) yapping noisily & constantly all around us. These younger people were either servers, desk staff or just eat/delivery guys. It all seemed VERY unprofessional. They were just lounging about at other restaurant tables/chairs talking. We'll never return for a 'sit in' meal again, but would certainly use for 'carry out. Felt a bit cheated being charged 'dine in' prices tho! Compliments to the chef. Capital House has been around in Lanark for many years,used to be my go to for Chinese,took a long break but am enjoying being back, the Chicken Jong Bau is decent, never have to wait too long and the food is consistently good. Portion size is good, prices keep rising but thats what a cost of living crisis does, havent noticed much if any shrinkflation. Averaging a visit once a week so the Capital House must be doing something right to keep me keen, Chicken Kung Po also decent as is the Special fried rice. Called tonight ordered a beef curry was absolutely shocked to discover their takeaway Curry's come in the small fried rice container this order was for 2 adults to share at work and was £6.20 excluding rice I immediately called the restaurant to be told if I wanted a bigger curry I would have to ask and be charged extra I queried why this is not stated on their menu as a result of this I will not be giving this restaurant anymore business....poor poor show...
