China Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Scotland

This was our first visit to this restaurant, having read reviews, and spoken to a couple of friends from Greenock. We received a friendly welcome, but I feel that we should have been shown to our reserved table, rather than it just being pointed out to us. The actual surroundings look a wee bit worn, and I was surprised to see a brown '100% Recycled' paper place setting. I know that we all have to try to live 'greener' lives, but this certainly didn't add to any ambiance in the restaurant! Service was prompt, without rushing us at all, and pleasant. Conversation with the serving staff was, however, nil. Now to the main event - the food! It was absolutely excellent, and represented superb value for money. Portions were very acceptable, piping hot, and very tasty indeed. The chicken satay starter was outstanding. For my main I had HK sweet and sour chicken - just delicious. My friends were very happy with their meals too. With the food being so good, it would take relatively little to turn this into a first-class restaurant. Visited this evening, first and last. Was not busy so we went in. I ordered prawn cocktail, I received a flat plate with lettuce, 1 slice tomato and a slap of unappetising looking prawns in Marie Rose sauce a pathetic piece of lemon too. We were shown to a table with a pile of chairs behind us and toilet doors. My lemon chicken was probably the worst Ive ever had, the chicken was tasteless and the sauce a bright yellow. My husband had a chicken chow mein, the noodles were hot, the chicken was just warm. We didn't complain as we were exhausted and just wanted to eat and go. The ladies toilet was very messy . Well let’s see been using this Chinese for well over 30 years don’t get me wrong the food was amazing but but now it’s all about getting your cash off u well tonight the 23/2022 my food was absolutely stinking it’s wasn’t a curry it was definitely a mystery box chicken was fryed rice was just grease up out it’s wee grain and the curry well that was absolutely a pick and mix off all flavours all I can say is give your money to people how put effort into your meal not cowboys just out for your money just to remind use money is hard to come buy and a Chinese easy to come buy but but pick the right one cowboys cowboys food...
