I must say I was very disappointed today with all our breakfast. Everyone's toast came out un edable. I really am surprised the fire alarms never went off with how charcoal the toast was. It amazed me how they sent all 4 breakfasts out with toast like that. I normally love a witherspoons breakfast too. With back ground in hospitality and management I would think there needs to be a staff meeting on food presentation and how the food is put out to customers as both kitchen and waiting staff thought it was acceptable to serve burnt toast. One of the parties toast was so bad I was in shock and didn't even think to take a picture of it but they did give us another couple of slices but as for the rest of the party, we left it on our plates and left as quick as we could.

Reasonably priced pub grub from Wetherspoon chain. The James Watt resides in a beautiful old building that was once the central post office. There are pictures, books , and even a restored steam engine on display that pay homage to its inventor who was born in nearby William Street. It is a pity then, that the establishment has such a neglected appearance, as it often seems dusty, dirty & cluttered. The menu is good, but quality is variable, particularly with breakfast. The new app to order food is very welcome to save negotiating access to the bar, but the single self serve machine for tea/coffee woefully inadequate for when this restaurant is busy. Overall , good for pub grub & fast service, & I will most likely return.

There's one thing a lot of Wotherspoons have and that's great buildings and this one is a fine example, I am not sure what it was before but at least as a bar it serves a useful function. Greenock itself has a mish mash of buildings with some excellent older buildings probably financed through its shipbuilding heritage, but not so good newer buildings. The Weatherspoons pubs all have the same eponymous menus and products, I suppose the motto is why spoil success. The service was as you would expect.

Prices are good Food arrived hot and tasty (when it arrived). Staff very rude. First the bartender was very abrupt and cutting off customers while they made the order. Next there was no teabags so I asked the lady behind the bar to provide some and she huffed and was abrupt (again. It was the same woman). Then when a different woman arrived to refill the teabags, she needed to get into the cupboard which I was standing next to. I didn't even know there was a cupboard there. Instead of being polite, she yelled "EXCUSE ME!" Four plates of food arrived but we had to remind the waiting staff to bring the fifth plate of food. The waiting staff had to come back to the table ask US what was missing from the order. She made the excuse "there was a problem with he table order." When questioned how all the other plates arrived, if there's a table order problem, she just said "all I can do is apologise. I'm not the chef" rolled her eyes and walked off" The fifth plate of food arrived long after everyone was finished. They served chips instead of the side salad, which we ordered. I would have been more understanding if the staff were rushed off their feet, but the place wasn't even 1/3 full to capacity. Food was the usual, tasty Weatherpoons fare. The venue has an open plan interior with lots of local inspiration for the...

I haven't ate here in years and years! But I have seen peoples meals, and they look gross tbh. I've seen their recent menu's which states the calories in each. You won't find one meal which is low in calories. When i asked for healthy foods, they suggested the Vegan menu - what you have to be Vegan to be healthy now? (I don't think so!). I heard a man asking for brown breaded toast, the barmaid said they only do white bread. So i defo wouldn't be going here if you're wanting a healthy meal, or your on a diet etc. As for cleanliness, the toilets are really awful in afternoons/especially evenings/weekends. Some toilet blockages 🤢 And i've seen way too many not cleaned tables whenever i was there. I was keeping an eye on one table, when he left. that table didnt get cleaned at all for the whole time i was there, with bf. So they really need to up their cleaning, and defo change/more variety of meals on their menu's please. The pub itself should be refurbished, as this carpet is old and mould on one table near front doors - it wreaked of mould. I think this is because of the drain outside, on wall, is leaking through to inside on wall in pub. Good idea to...

Good prices but get what you pay for on this occasion. Went for lunch on a day trip to Greenock. Been to a few Wetherspoons pubs for food and was really disappointed with what we got. Orders were not fulfilled until pointed out, despite having ordered on app. May I add, when pointed out to the member of staff they were very apologetic and got it sorted out. The girl was very pleasant and helpful. We were missing a couple of mugs for our hot drinks as ordered but she sorted it out quickly on realising the error. However my chicken burger was as dry as sand as was so overcooked. Chips were good though. The missus got a margherita pizza which looked as though it had a quick blast in the oven. It's the first time I've seen her leave pizza without finishing. My daughter's pepperoni pizza which originally was missed from order was the same, albeit she ate the pepperoni discs but didn't finish the pizza as didn't like it, again didn't look fully oven baked. I have no issue with the staff at customer front as the young girl serving could not have been more friendly and helpful. The food being served however is a different story, hopefully was just a bad day...
