You absolutely MUST dine here if you get the chance!
Leo greeted us at Fanny Trollopes. He was incredibly friendly and attentive. The venue was intimate and relaxed. We were seated in an extremely comfortable booth which had enough privacy but that also allowed us to soak in the buzz of the venue. The music playlist was perfect and was played at a non-intrusive level.
For starters, we had celeriac and blue cheese soup and the falafel. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! The portion sizes were reasonable and very much worth the price! To note, our booking was a later, last minute arrangement. The restaurant had run out of bread (that was to be served with the soup) and they went to all of the effort to go out and get more just for us! On top of that, they even took the soup off of the bill for the inconvenience (the bread was non-issue to us but this gesture was appreciated all the same!)
We ordered the special of the day (chicken in a creamy mustard sauce, mashed potatoes and greens) and the market fish of the day (they had ran out of the original dish but they made up a dish specifically for us which was coley in a sauce with mashed potatoes and greens). Again, the portions were hearty and left us satisfied! We also had truffle parmesan fries on the side to snack on. They arrived to our table freshly fried and piping hot!
At the end of our meal, Leo offered us a free tea or coffee (to compensate for the service which, to clarify, we had absolutely zero complaints about!) Leo had been the perfect host all evening and the kitchen staff had produced the incredible dishes for us!
Fanny Trollopes is a must try in Glasgow. Unpretentious and delicious food plated beautifully (and generously!) in a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere. We will be recommending Fanny Trollopes to anyone who will listen and we eagerly anticipate our next visit!

Read moreMy family and I booked a table here in celebration of my graduation. We had never seen or heard of it before but the reviews seemed almost unanimously positive. We arrived slightly early but were welcomed as the staff were getting the place ready for the bookings due to flood the restaurant that night. The waiter brought over the menus and gave us some honest helpful and friendly advice on the contents of it. We all ordered different starters and we all equally enjoyed them, so much so that we were now happy to entirely trust the word of our waiter! Upon ordering mains, we were not disappointed whatsoever. In fact, by this point, we had come to the conclusion that Fanny Trollope's was almost certainly the most excellent family owned restaurant we had ever had the pleasure of visiting. We decided that we would definitely regret not ordering sweets after the quality we had seen in the starters and main dishes. My mother ordered the pistachio cake, my father ordered the lime and ginger brulee while I opted for the cheese board. Once again, nobody was disappointed in the slightest. The bill was very reasonable for 3 people to have 3 courses, a bottle of wine and a few glasses of port. I honestly cannot recommend this restaurant enough with its friendly and helpful staff, absolutely delicious food and interesting choice as well as it's quaint decor and handy location making it a firm family favourite for...
Read moreI went here for valentines day...it was last minute. I called, spoke with Leo who graciously found a time slot that suited me. It was so easy to locate and very close to my residence. It is a small resturant but I love the way they utilised the space, very compact.
Leo welcomed us and took our coats. We sat by the window and it was so cosy. We were welcomed with a glass of fizz.
Appetisers I had pastrami- cured salmon, fresh crab, creme fraiche & herb, dill oil- it was very nice. My partner had slow braised short- rib, conflict garlic mash, peppercorn sauce. I totally enjoyed his appetiser.
Main I had the grilled sea trout, tenderstem broccoli, roast chorizo, pepperonato with garlic & herb pangrattato. The favours in my meal was just so exciting. My partner had pan-seared chicken supreme, dauphinois potatoes, haggis bon bon, mushroom & tarragon cream sauce. I also had a taste Nd it was a delight.
Dessert Dark chocolate & almond fondant, salted caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream. We had same dessert and it was so sweet.
It was a bit late so we had our meal with water and my partner ordered tea afterwards.
I now understand why this resturant has alot of good reviews. At each point, Leo or another staff would come over to ask if we wanted something. I felt welcomed and was treated so well.
I would rate them more than 5 star if I could lol. I will be stopping by...
