Firstly, I’d like to say I was looking forward to my brunch date today and was hugely disappointed. We came in around 12:30pm. The place was empty. There was one server and one person behind the counter. There were two other men walking around the restaurant but weren’t in uniform so no idea who they were.
The server came to take our order quite quick but after that it went downhill. We ordered mocktails. My husband ordered shakshuka. Server said they were out of cheese for it but can get it made without cheese. I said fine. I ordered the brunch bowl for myself. She again said there’s no cheese for that either and she can leave it out. I said fine again. I then said can I also order the berry French toast and hot Spanish latte but can you bring it out after we’ve had our other food. She confirmed with me twice that she will bring the toast and latte out after the other food, I said yes.
Five minutes later she returned again to say they don’t actually have avocado either for my order and asked if I’d like to order something else. So I said can I have the salmon bagel. She said that’s fine, she again at this point confirmed about the toast and coffee to come later.
Bear in mind there were no other people in the restaurant this time. One family came but they left without ordering as it seemed what they wanted was not available. The server did also tell us when we walked in that there aren’t any croffles today.
Around another 5 minutes passed and server was back again to ask what replacement I had ordered because she’d forgotten!
Anyway our mocktails came and around 10 minutes later my husband’s shakshuka came. I sat waiting for a bit while he ate, for my bagel to come. I was just about to ask when server came and put down a dish on front of me. I was a bit confused as it was a drink and not my bagel. I said sorry I think you’ve gave me the wrong thing. She goes no that’s your Spanish latte. I said I asked for a hot one not iced and I had said bring it after with my French toast. She replied yeah here’s your French toast with it. I explained again to her that I had asked you to bring this out after our other food and any case it was a hot Spanish latte I had ordered.
She looked at me blankly, no apologies, waiting for me to offer a solution. So I just said you know what cancel my bagel I don’t want it after the French toast. And I’ll just have this cold latte though it’s not what I wanted. She still didn’t say anything and seemed satisfied at that and walked away.
The French toast was stone cold.
Service was very poor. There was so much waiting which I would’ve overlooked if she had got the order right. Only one other table was taken when we left.
We are always wanting to support these fancy dessert places but they need to at-least get their service right and have the ingredients to their menu items together otherwise don’t put them on the menu! Advertising brunch items but then not being prepared with avocado and cheese is shocking. We were probably the first customers of the day so not as if they ran out.
Don’t think I’ll...

Firstly the service was a shambles. There was one server clearing tables, taking orders and serving food in the whole restaurant. She was trying her hardest and was so lovely but was being constantly told off by arrogant men behind the till who were snatching things off of her, pointing at her, throwing their hands up and being unbelievably rude. I thought at one point she was going to burst into tears as she was running (yes, RUNNING) back and forward trying to do everything whilst the men behind the counter shouted orders and rung a bell CONSTANTLY. If she never answered to the bell in 2 seconds, they would ring it again and again.
Items on the menu weren’t available and we weren't told, all food didnt arrive at the same time so we were all eating separately, every time we ordered a drink it was forgotten about or it would come after you had finished eating, and we could see orders being sent back left right and centre. When we did get our desserts, it was just average desserts on fancy plates, nothing special.
The man behind the counter that was barking orders at the lady server was rummaging in a bin and then touching peoples glasses or plates before being served and looked absolutely furious the whole time we were in the restaurant. Didnt see one smile from anyone it was so hostile and they would happily argue in front of paying customers which was so awkward.
I am also unsure why they couldn’t keep a song on in full? The music was either blaring, turned off constantly or skipped through songs on a playlist like i was sitting in someone’s living room in an after party.
We asked for the bill 3 times, and when it eventually came and we tried to pay by card we were given a bit of paper with someone’s bank details to transfer. Thankfully we had cash as everyone knows you dont get signal at the Fort so god knows how people will bank transfer money. Oh, and don’t expect your change back… the man behind the till pocketed it out the till and walked off. We sat for 5 minutes and then shouted him over to ask for the change, which he then pulled out from his back pocket.
The icing on the cake was when we asked the server who was holding the place afloat if we could give her a tip and if she could keep it to herself. I’ve never seen a server look so shocked and scared to be asked that question. She hesitated and said she would have to ask permission so we came with her and received a disingenuous “Sure” from what i can only assume was her boss. I feel so sorry for her, and for the rest of the customers that all look miserable and feel uncomfortable seeing whats going on around them.
Should have done a trial run or at least trained your staff before opening the doors. Pretty unfair to ask customers to pay full price for such a bizarre...
Read moreMy experience at Heavenly Desserts left a lot to be desired. Stepping into the restaurant felt more like a journey into a previous era where archaic attitudes towards women prevailed. It was a shocking glimpse into a culture where women seemed to be treated as second class citizens.
When I entered, it was clear that it was severely understaffed. With only one woman being tasked with every front of house task imaginable. From taking orders to seating guests and cleaning tables, the poor woman was run off her feet. The other staff were just watching and instructing her on what she should be doing instead of helping.
The ordeal of obtaining a simple glass of water highlighted the poor service. Despite asking on multiple occasions, it took an unreasonable amount of time before it was finally brought to my table.
What truly astonished me was the demeaning manner in which the server was treated. If you've ever seen Breaking Bad, then you will know Hector and his bell. I think some of the staff were trying to give their best impression of Hector. The poor woman was subjected to being summoned by the clang of a bell, expected to drop everything and attend to the beck and call of the workers from the kitchen. The ringing only increased until the woman dropped what she was doing and literally sprinted to collect the food. Not only was this totally degrading but it was disruptive to the overall dining experience.
To make matters worse, the lack of basic hygiene practices was shocking. Witnessing the manager rummaging through a bin and proceeding to serve customers without so much as washing his hands was not only unsanitary but also disgusting.
The proverbial “highlight” of the meal came at the end when we were presented with the bill, after asking for it 3 times. Instead of being offered normal payment methods, we were given a piece of paper with bank details to transfer funds. God forbid you don't have access to mobile banking or cash as I think you may get drafted into being another servant to the bell to pay off your meal.
I hope you don't expect change either if you do pay with cash, as I actually had to ask the manager for my change. To which he begrudgingly reached into his own pocket to give me the change he had already taken out of the till.
Overall, my experience at Heavenly Desserts was marred by poor service, old fashioned practices, and a blatant lack of respect for customers and their own staff. The food was alright, although until significant improvements are made, I cannot in good conscience recommend this...
