Originally gave a five star review, however we chose to dine here on Christmas day and our opinion was different for this day. Food was okay, nothing extra special for Christmas, portion size wasn't different nor was the food options compared to the festive menu. Our family from Ayrshire were 20 minutes late as they were struggling to find the place which I understand is not ideal but they hadn't even properly sat down or ordered drinks before our starters were rushed over to us, so there was some confusion about who's starter belonged to who. There was five of us at £65pp plus drinks which is £325 for food alone. We ordered a lot of extra drinks, a bottle of prosecco plus a lot of cocktails (it was our first Christmas as Husband and Wife) but nearer the end of our dinner when we were mid conversation we had a member of staff come up to our table to say "Guys there's people queued up at the door for this table" we hadn't even been given or offered the bill beforehand. A better way to do this would have been if a member of staff came to our table and said the next table would be due in 15/20 minutes but instead they waited till the next table was at the door and we were forced to rush out. We felt an inconvenience. We found this to be really insensitive and really unprofessional if I'm honest. We had family attend from Ayrshire who we hadn't seen in a long time, and we were frankly embarrassed as we'd only had the table from 1pm. We do understand the tables have a certain number of hours but to come up to our table and say that when we hadn't even been offered or given the bill was a bit unprofessional and formed an opinion from the people that joined us. At £65 pp for a 3 course meal we normally leave a £100+ tip on Christmas but we did not leave our usual tip. My mother in law had to ask for cutlery three separate times. Other guests got their jackets taken over to them from members of staff but we were left to fetch our own when they were rushing us out, we couldn't get our jackets because lots of jackets had been placed over ours. The coat stand was tipping over due to the weight of everyone's jackets and we were trying to balance it back up, no one came over to help us. Unfortunately we will not return for any type of meal here due to this, we are honestly quite disappointed as we would have been frequent guests at the restaurant. We all work in hospitality, this is not how things should be handled. We were left feeling quite embarrassed. The waitresses were lovely but never again, next time we will visit her at the Seamill Hydro. We felt like we were being thrown out after spending a lot of money here.
I also don't eat pork, which was mentioned in my pre-order and via telephone but I still received a plate with sausages and pork stuffing after being told that I could have sage and...
Read moreWe came here for Xmas day, we had previously dined here and it was a good experience.
However, today true colours were delivered. We had family come from far away to see us, and their impressions were 1 star. This was not a cheap experience, we had already paid 65 per person, and my mother had paid 100 for a bottle of rose champagne for our wedding toast, we had also paid 100+ in drinks which my grandfather had paid for. We chose this place because of the praise it had received but we were embarrassed on behalf of the people we had invited with us, I think the restaurant should be embarrassed after the service.
My wife asked for no pork, but they gave her a plate of a pork overload, pigs and plankets AND pork and sage stuffing after being told the stuffing was Sage and onion.
A lot of money to spend, especially when I had to also have my steak made medium instead of rare because it was easier for the kitchen.
At the end of the evening, a member of staff told us that a queue was going out the door and they were waiting for our table, we told him we hadn't had the bill yet otherwise we would've been on our way and he was very quick to be nice and apologetic, but that was very clearly fake, the real attitude was to kick us out after spending a fortune.
We will never be back here because clearly our money and time wasn't appreciated, this is a very clear warning to other customers that your money won't be appreciated and they would rather you leave.
Do not come here, I would support small businesses but not this one. We were thrown out after spending a fortune....
Read moreI've been fortunate enough to dine here three times, twice with my family and once with workmates for a birthday lunch, and each visit has been nothing short of outstanding.
First, let’s talk about the food. My personal favourite is the Pollo Milanese, a dish that never fails to impress with its perfect balance of flavours and textures. While this remains my top pick, I’ve heard glowing reviews about the rest of the menu from family and friends. Every dish seems to be crafted with care and bursting with authentic Italian flair.
Beyond the food, the staff at Il Pescatore are genuinely lovely. They’re incredibly friendly, attentive, and always eager to help, which makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. You feel welcomed from the moment you step through the door.
Portion sizes are generous, and you definitely get great value for your money. Whether you're a Paisley local or just visiting, I can’t recommend Il Pescatore enough. It’s the perfect spot for a memorable Italian culinary experience. Be sure to book a table. You won’t want to miss out!
