Called in to No2 today for lunch. We are frequent customers there, normally only for a drink. Firstly, we placed our order. My husband was having steak and ale pie with chips and mushy peas. I ordered a chicken and bacon sandwich on sourdough with a portion of house fries. The waitress returned to say there was a 45 minute wait. We agreed to wait as to go somewhere else it could possibly be the same wait time. Roughly 20 - 30 minutes later my husband's meal appeared but with mash and garden peas with the steak and ale pie. He said he would just have that and didn't return it he questioned where my meal was. The waitress came back to say they didn't have a note of it so would put it on right away. After another lengthy wait, by which time my husband had finished his meal, mine still hadn't appeared. I then went to question the waitress who was then behind the bar. She went to find out and came to the table to say it would be five minutes. The manager then came and apologised. There had been a mistake. My husband had got someone else's meal and mine was being prepared now along with what should have been his which would now go to the gentleman who hadn't got his original meal Not sure if there has been a change in staff but service was an absolute shambles today. Needless to say we won't eat...
Read moreTook a day off work, and swung by Stirling for a day trip with my dad. We were there to check out Langgarth House which went up for sale and was built by my Great-great-great-grandfather, so we pretended we could afford to buy it, and had a look. The house itself was falling apart and rotting, and if it had been a rainy day I think would have been pretty miserable, but it was gloriously sunny so we decided to have a wander round Stirling while we were there. We were going to check out the church at the top of the hill, and the museum. Sadly both were shut. But the trip was not lost! We eyed up No 2 Baker Street and sat outside in the sun to have a pint. Nothing like a crisp Innis & Gunn on a sunny Scottish day. I got a big fat fish and chips which was as good as pub grub comes, he got a chicken and bacon sandwich that I would have coveted greatly if I wasn't chowing down on some expertly fried cod. The ladies at the bar were very lovely, and it really rounded off the trip. On the drive home I put on a podcast about the evolution of the Chinese Language in the internet era, and promptly fell asleep, my stomach full with good food and lager. Thanks No. 2 Baker Street - if I'm ever in Stirling on a sunny Wednesday again,...
Read moreAte at this place twice and as someone with a major gluten and dairy sensitivity they're best in class. Not only do they have a clear menu, but they also have more dessert options than just Sorbet. For those with sensitivities, you'll know how rare that is. The food, specifically the burger was excellent as was the dessert. My friend with no intolerances said their normal menu and food was fantastic too. You'd be hard pressed to find anything better for the price.
The only negative is since it's so good, it's popular. I wish they'd hire at least one more person to help relieve their hard working folks. To get food fast, just order it at the bar.
Edit: Restaurant responded and I believe misinterpreted. The service staff will tell you to order at the bar for quicker service because they often don't have enough folks to service tables. If you wait for your table to be serviced instead of ordering at the bar as recommended by the service staff, you'll spend a lot more time waiting for food. Once your food is ordered, it comes out quickly. It's just getting it ordered that takes long if you don't know to order at the bar as recommended by all of the staff we interacted with during both...
