In 1863, William Drummond asked William Barclay to build the star pyramid. This magnificent pyramid is a heartfelt tribute to all those who bravely gave their lives for the cause of civil and religious liberty in Scotland.
William planted a lovely pleasure garden around the pyramid, complete with trees and plants. He was also kind enough to pay for five of the six statues you can see in various parts of the graveyard. He even donated trees to be planted around the National Wallace Monument!
