I'd like to begin by saying that I have given Café Aina at least four second chances, especially because the quality of the food is often satisfying. The variety of the vegan menu is definitely a plus, however the food and fresh juices are mostly overpriced.
Unfortunately, most of the staff is incompetent and lacks basic costumer service skills.
The second time my boyfriend and I went to Café Aina, there were several complications that culminated in issues with our drinks (fresh juices) and our main course. We ordered two fresh juices, but only received one as they ran out of ingredients. However, when we got our bill, we noticed that we had been charged with two drinks. Instead of resolving the situation smoothly, the person in charge was incredibly rude and borderline insulting when we tried to pay the bill. She assumed that we didn't want to pay for the second juice even after having explained that we only got one. We waited for a while for the issue to be resolved and we were arrogantly asked if we wanted to leave a gratuity.
Moreover, on the same day, we were given our main courses, which should have come with a dip each, without any dips. After we reported the issue, another waiter (in all fairness) misunderstood that we wanted an extra dip. When we clarified that our dips were missing, the person in charge argued with us after I asked whether the dip was vegan. She told me that I should have specified it and she denied that the original dish came with a vegan dip. When I pointed out that it said that on the menu, she checked and simply said that it was wrong.
Even though this was an incredibly frustrating experience, I still ordered a couple of times, but the quality of the food is hit or miss. While I may recommend ordering from here, I would not recommend sitting in, as, even though there are very nice people working there, the service is...
Read moreSorry, but I have found the service to have gone from bad to worse in this place. Food is lovely and I keep returning hoping my last experience was down to staff shortage or something along those lines. I travel a distance to eat here and today I took my daughter who works in hospitality. I warned her before hand that the service isn’t great but the food is good. Today, I was really embarrassed as it was the worst that is ever been. My daughter was appalled by the rudeness of the young girl who served us and how frantic the young guy was that was literally doing everything on his own. After a 45 minute wait for our drinks order that were taken by the young girl, we were served by what looked like the KP. The state of the toilets are an absolute disgrace too with the toilet seat literally broken right off the toilet and totally filthy. I overheard people say at the table next to me that they wanted to leave and that the young girl servers attitude was bad. It seams there is no love from management for the place at all which is a real shame as it continues to spirals downhill with every visit I make. Today is definitely my last. Management, needs to take note. Serving lovely food will keep you afloat for a short while. Please do something asap about the dreadful service or you will fold no matter how nice...
Read moreThe food was average. Mine, somewhat tasteless and overpriced.
The service from the young Greek guy with glasses was great. He had no problems customising orders and was very helpful.
The decor, on the other hand, was absolutely horrendous. Absolutely no investment into the decor at all. Plain, white walls, and cheap tables and chairs. The alleyway along the way to the bathroom was littered with stuff you'd typically find someone taking to a dump. Absolutely appalling that anyone thinks it's acceptable to have that stuff on show to customers. I was embarrassed for them. The toilets were an absolute disgrace, too. Shoddy. 1* toilet. A table to change a baby on, without safe curving sides to stop the baby from falling and a dirty, stained baby mat thrown on the top. A H&S nightmare.
This place could be something quite nice if money was spent decorating and providing a pleasant environment for diners to eat here. If you don't want to close, then give people what they want and stop disrespecting customers by making them sit and eat in what looks like an abandoned, derelict, unsafe and not fit for purpose place.
I wouldn't eat there again, unless the aesthetics changed and they took pride in...
