Okome Bathgate — Restaurant in Scotland

We've been here a few times, both sitting in and collecting to takeaway.

Arrived at 5pm this afternoon, asked for a table.for 2, got one pointed out straight away. There were 2 other tables of 2 in the restaurant, plus a table of 2 which looked like staff on their break which is fair enough.

We sat and had a look at the menu, thinking someone would come over and at least take a drinks order, but nothing. We looked over at the counter, caught the eyes of some of the staff thinking someone would be over.

Got completely ignored. The 2 staff members finished their meal and walked past, at which point I thought they'd remind the counter staff that were was a table waiting...nothing.

We could hear people chatting, there were one or 2 people who came in to pick up food. At 5.20, we walked out as we had somewhere else to be, thinking when we got there at 5, it would be plenty of time to order and eat.

Disappointed as its the best place for sushi in west lothian without having to go...

5/5 for everything! if i could rate higher than 100% i would. the restaurant was super clean, the staff were beyond friendly and helpful and the food was outstandingly good! between the 5 of us we tried half the menu and every single thing we ate was stunning! fresh, tasty, incredibly well done food. we’re all excited to go back and in 24 hours have told half the people we know to give it a try! BYOB was great with a small corkage charge of £5 and the whole menu isn’t just reasonably priced but incredibly cheap for the fantastic quality of food. exceptional food/ service/ atmosphere, this will be the new meeting spot whenever i’m home in bathgate! can’t wait to return. would recommend Okame to every single person! what a...

Good food, but portions small for the price. Was really hoping it would be 5* as I love sushi, I got the mixed sashimi and the fish was fresh and good size slices. One of the surf clam slices was a little gritty. I would have liked it to be served with some white mooli radish instead of sitting on green plastic fake seaweed. I also got a rainbow roll, which was OK, but for £13.95, the portion was too small in my opinion. I suspect this place will struggle to get sufficient repeat custom and won’t last in Bathgate because for £30 takeaway for 1, you should feel very satisfied. Having said all that, this is still their first month, so this place has a lot of potential to adapt to their market....
