Literally the worst curry I have ever had in an Indian restaurant. I ordered the Pathia, which is my favourite and which I have eaten at dozens of restaurants. It's should be hot, sour, and on the sweet side. It should in NO way resemble Chinese takeaway sweet and sour sauce, but that's exactly what I got. It was bright red, see through and glutinous, with crunchy half cooked veg, and no spice. I strongly suspect the chef didn't know how to make Pathia, read that it should be sweet and sour, and so popped next door in a panic to the Chinese and got a tray of sweet and sour veg from there. Really the worst curry I've ever had. It wasn't curry. I wish they had just said that the pathia wasn't possible and I would have chosen something else. The others at the table were happy with their food so obviously the kitchen had a specific issue with the pathia. The food took a while to arrive so I didn't want to ask for a replacement as that would have left me eating alone when everybody else had finished. The garlic bread tasted nice but had some weird neon green stuff all over it. What's with that? Despite booking a table we were seated alone in a large dark overflow area, with flashing multicoloured lights like a nightclub, and no other diners to help with the atmosphere. Pretty depressing. The service was attentive and very friendly, but we were asked at least 5 times if everything was ok, which did get a bit annoying. I ate here a couple of years ago and enjoyed it...but this time it was just abysmal. I'm so sorry to have to leave this negative review, but I hope it can be acted upon to...
Read moreHave been before and thought last nights meal would be just as good as an experience .... Table booked at 7pm seated promptly now if I just say that by 8pm we didn't have our starters and we had already corrected our drinks order it set the theme. Dishes weren't cleared and we had to ask several times for our main courses then ask again - twice- for the dishes that didn't arrive.... Food wise the starter was nice but a couple of bits burnt and in the mains the lamb so tough and dry that you could hardly cut it never mind chew it however the korma was nice and the vindaloo OK but not as spicy as expected. Family beside us had the same issues- we chatted whilst waiting. The excuse being was the kitchen was very busy and a table of 12 was still in from 5pm... their service couldn't have been that good either if still there over 3 hours and only on dessert!!! On the plus side the manager gave us half off the bill but only after I said I wasn't paying the full amount and to be honest he looked pretty hacked off himself but think I wasn't the only table to complain. Yet another place that is concentrating on the take away side - a woman collecting said they hadn't had to wait for very long. So in short I won't be returning which is a shame as like to support...
Read moreWell, another venture to Moniefieth in our Motorhome and another visit to this wonderful eatery for me and the wife.
Again the staff were welcoming, friendly, chatty, professional but relaxed.
The place is clean, tidy and beautifully decorated.
Starters: Shammi kebab for me and chicken pakora for the missus. Both delicious and well presented. Add to that popadoms and dips and it's a great prelude to the mains.
Mains: Chicken Tikka masala for the wife and prawn vindaloo for me. Shared pilau rice, garlic and cheese naan, peshwari paratha and a tarka dhall on the side. All wonderful. I'm typing this on the morning after and believe me the vindaloo was proper😲🔥🔥😁. Tarka dhall was 100% spot on. Just the way I like it. Great portions too.
The only slight niggle was we tried to book a table via their website but got no reply. Just a wee technical glitch I assume. All sorted with a phone call.
All in all another extremely enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back,...
