This is a pleasant cafe situated near the beach and just beside Tayside Caravan Park.
I used to visit occasionally when the kids were small, there is a nice beach and playback close by, and this cafe is an excellent spot to grab a coffee or bite of lunch.
It was nice to return after a few years and see the place busy and going strong.
There is limited seating indoors, although, tbh I think my son would have wanted to be outside. He does not like busy compact spaces.
That is perhaps a question mark about this cafe. Seating indoors is a bit limited. On a cold August day with a strong breeze blowing and rain in the air that might not suit some.
The food is very good, and a wide range of choices, far more extensive than I remember it being. I had a very nice homemade mushroom soup with some extremely tasty bread while my son had a sausage roll, beans and chips. The sausage roll was very good quality, none of your Greggs stuff here.
There are plenty of options from hot food to sandwiches, omelettes and plenty of others.
I am not in the area much these days, but I am glad to have rediscovered this spot and look forward to returning

Read moreWould give negative stars if I could. Owner is an angry man who gets triggered if you question the prices and staff think it’s acceptable to walk past our table speaking about the interaction stating how stupid I was to presume the 99 was actually 99p. Don’t think I’ve ever had an experience getting ice cream that’s left me angry but here we are. Was lucky enough to deal with 3 staff members including the owner and not a single nice thing to say, all just rude and it’s funny cause I used to think that about the owner when I’d come here as a child! 10 years on still the same. Hope this review finds these lovely people well and no one else presumes a tiny little ice cream called a 99 is 99p cause that is criminal. One must know it’s £7.50 for two 99s! Won’t ever...
Read moreThe Bay Diner is located just outside the exit of Tayview Caravan Park in Monifieth where we're staying in our caravan. Had breakfast there yesterday morning. It was busy, which for me, is always a good sign. We were fortunate that people had just left and the waitress quickly cleaned and reset the table for us. We each had a fried egg roll, a hot drink and shared a fruit scone. The food, drinks and the service were all excellent. Went back again this morning for breakfast and enjoyed the exact same experience. Going home tomorrow, but we'll be back at Tayview for sure and will definitely be back at the Bay Diner. Keep up...
