I really enjoyed my meal at the anchor inn. Popped in early in the year to try but was busy so came back a second time today. Met be very friendly staff. I took observations of the locals and how busy it was a 5:30 pm on a Thursday. I can see why. Great food. Although I didn't take a picture of it. It was consumed within a matter of minutes. Haddock, chips and salad. All fresh and very tasty. Do you self a favour. Forget the weather spoons across the road. Too easy to go in there. Come to the anchor and have fresh food and friendly service. All in all. I really enjoyed my food and visit. Staff took order quickly offered to open a tab. Took my small dietary requirement into consideration and it was promptly delivered fresh and quickly cleared away. The pub experience I've been looking for. Give the anchor a go.

My sister and I decided on the Anchor for a meal while visiting the ferry on a day out. Did book 3 days before to guarantee a table. Waitress brought our drinks shortly after showing us to our table. Another 2 tables were filled about 5-10 mins after our arrival, yet the waitress took all their orders before ours, so had to make her aware we were ready to order. These other 2 tables were again served their meals before us and we had to wait 25 mins on ours so not impressed with service. Our meals were delicious and couldn't fault them at all. Definitely go back, hopefully the table service improves tho

Nice place for drinks and for food. There's a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. However, there are very few cocktails to choose from. The food is very good as far as pub grub goes and the portions are huge. The menu is extensive but the dessert options are limited - only 4 or 5. The service is fast and the staff are friendly and attentive. I recommend booking a table if you fancy food on a Friday or Saturday night. We went there for food and drinks on Saturday and it was extremely busy. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

So disappointed! The Anchor was always our favourite place to eat in the Ferry so my husband and I went for lunch today. It was busy but we were seated right away and our order was taken shortly after - we waited and waited but no food appeared! The table next to us who ordered just before us had their meals and left and still no food! So I asked when our food was coming, she said she would find out and never came back! Another member of staff then told us that a big table had ordered before us but there were at least 3 tables who came in after us that were served before us! She was quite cheeky! No apology or sorry for your wait! By this time we had been waiting nearly an hour for macaroni cheese and chilli! We decided just to pay for our drinks and left - the only apology we got was from the young barman. Sorry but we...

We went as a table of 5 at 6pm on July 2nd. We hadn't been for more than a year. The cosy pub atmosphere has gone. A strong blue paint is on the walls now. The Mac and cheese had zero cheese flavour apart from the melted cheese on top. The scampi was cooked to hot but not crispy. The battered fish had no flavour at all. The chicken pakora which was a favourite in the past had no flavour in the batter. Our server although friendly disappeared after our meal was served. We could have ordered another round of drinks but no one came by. Staff were chatting to bar customers or looking at their phone behind the bar. Had to go find someone to bring the bill. We had finished our meal ages before. None of us finished out food. Just disappointed. It was not so busy on...
