Wife and I ate here for lunch on Friday 12th July. We ordered two of their daily special's, lobster and my personal favourite halibut. Our lobster dish was fantastic full of flavour and well prepared.

The halibut was a tail end, it was dry, tough and lacked any flavour. It was clearly overcooked having lost its natural moisture, which resulted in it being chewy and dry. We alerted the waitress (Sam, she was great), she was apologetic and went to inform the chef. On returning from the kitchen it was evident that they had no intention of fixing the problem by replacing the overcooked fish.

They admitted there being an issue with the fish by offering us free tea or coffee which we declined. If they had offered us a replacement piece of Halibut we would have been delighted. To make things worse, the owner/manger appeared to be sat on the table next to us, she didn't engage with the situation at all. Terrible customer service and fully worthy of the 1 star on this occasion.

Thanks for the reply. However, please do not make out that I ate most of the meal before complaining. When I made the complaint about the fish, I continued to eat the chips and sauce, both of which were good. I simply couldn't eat the fish and left the vast majority of it as seen in the attached picture. Once I made the complaint I did not eat anymore of the fish. Very simply you should have replaced the...

Haven't had scollops for over 20 years and this place has made me regret not having more of them! Fantastic and full of flavour bringing you a heartwarming experience beside the sea.

Tried the main creamy Cajun chicken: Great balance of spice and flavour and not too thick on sauce, giving you an option of rice or chips or both! Chicken very tender and blended so well with the peppers and not overpowering, perfectly balanced, rustic and homemade dish.

Black Forrest cheesecake was delicious, really nice and filling. Had a look at the sticky toffee pudding which also looked fantastic. If you have a sweet tooth this place is lovely for desserts.

Their homemade fish cakes provide good value for buck, very filling and their blue cheese sauce very tasty, I'm personally not a fan for cheese and fish together but it was a very good combination, fish cake fans be surprised!

Staff extremely friendly and felt very welcomed, great place to experience wether it's the taste of the sea and to simply have nice fresh feel good food with a fair value on price.

Would definitely come here again with...

Run, don’t walk to book a table at this superb family run seafood restaurant!! The sibling chefs (brother & sister) are passionate about using high quality local seafood. In a country filled with fried fish, the Captain’s Table is a welcome oasis serving a creative variety of non fried ( and one or two fried options) exquisite seafood and shellfish. Appetizers include stunning Shetland steamed mussels and local scallops as well as several no seafood offerings. An intriguing fish pie( halibut, salmon and sole) was a special today along with lobster gnocchi. Make sure to ask about the catch of the day! An extensive alcoholic beverage menu is available, including cocktails and whiskeys along with a wide variety of beers and wines. The staff are quite friendly, helpful and very professional. Great pride is reflected in the spotless interior of the small restaurant and clean restroom. My only regret is that I was not staying locally in Fraserburgh- if so, I would eat at the Captain’s Table daily. Give it a try and see for yourself - you will not be...
