I went to this establishment with my family my Mum has Coeliac Disease and we asked for GF options. The lady manager/owner told my mum the coronation chicken baked potato with salad was GF and this was served. There was a mustard style dressing on the salad.
Two days later we returned I asked for a baked potato with coronation chicken because it looked so nice and having tasted my mums I thought I would enjoy it. It looked and tasted exactly the same as two days ago and the mustard dressing was the same. However….. it was a different waitress who came to our table and before my mum placed her order she (out of habit) checked if the coronation chicken was GF the waitress went off to ask the chef only to return and advise us it was NOT GF. Nor was the salad dressing!
I find it hard to believe the recipe changed over night because it looked, and tasted exactly the same!
Coeliac disease is no joke! Unlike those with an allergy it goes unnoticed and leads to other more serious health problems!
I am so upset about this lack of care I would advise anyone who has Coeliacs or a GF allergy to avoid! Had my mum been allergic I think we may have been off to the mainland for hospital treatment!
To the Owner/Manager at the Jam jar I would suggest you find out about Coeliacs disease from Coeliacs UK and take care of people who for health reasons cannot eat Gluten! 😔
I am very very disappointed and concerned for my Mum she is so careful to avoid the slightest contamination on her food yet, you don’t seem to care! Please don’t risk...

Finally got food order after another 45 minutes, so that's nearly 2 hours wait. She gave us complimentary drink but did not apologise. After the meal we asked her if they were short of staff and she said 'no, everyone just came at the same time it would be same on mainland.' Nobody anywhere would think 2 hours is acceptable.
Really disappointed as been before and it's been fine, but this time not only was the wait completely unacceptable but to get no apology and receive that unprofessional response means we...
Read moreWe visited during the Monday of a busy Easter weekend, food was reasonable quality, seems to have plenty of options on the menu, can also have a couple of pints as well. This newly built place sits at the top of the serpentine hill overlook Rothesay on the beautiful Isle Of Bute. Was fairly busy when we were there but service was quick and our cheese and ham, and tuna mayo paninis and skin on chips were nice enough. Check opening hours first as it seems to close quite early maybe 4 most days, with nothing in this part of the island it would be much better if there were longer opening hours, maybe close at 11pm during summer months, nice place for a light meal and few beers to take...
