Was really looking forward to trying this place but unfortunately our visit fell short of our expectations. We dined on the brunch menu and were left a little underwhelmed. On arrival the place was near empty yet it took around 5 minutes standing at the door before we were shown to a table. The guy was really nice and friendly but the service was painfully slow. Around 30 mins in the restaurant before we received our hot drinks is just a little too long. The food was average in my opinion. I have had much better full breakfasts elsewhere in the area. The hash brown was strange and not to my taste, very thick and stodgy and looked as though it had been deep fried as very oily. The tomato and bacon were nice but the rest of the meal was quite bland and tasteless. We paid £19 for a voucher for brunch for 2 but then an added service charge of 10% plus your drinks and any add ons soon mounts up. All in all the brunch cost around £35 and wasn't worth the cost. Other places offer better value particularly for the full breakfast option, many that come with hot drinks, toast etc included. It's also pretty but small inside so if you want a private conversation or an intimate meal I wouldn't recommend as tables are very...
Read moreAttended with the itison voucher deal and was pleasantly surprised to see how reasonably priced the menu is, even when not using a voucher. We had the Joe Goes Rogue tasting menu (£24.50/head for 6 courses usual price) and it was some of the best food we have had in Glasgow in the last 12 months, especially enjoyed the goats cheese churros and the lamb/turnip main with peppercorn jus. The dessert course was an amazing creme-brulee/cheesecake hybrid. Much better quality, flavour and portion sizes than a better-known chain of restaurants doing a similar themed 6-course tasting menu for a higher price.
Service was also great with a nice explanation of each dish as it is served. I don't usually leave reviews but was saddened to see how quiet the restaurant was on a Saturday evening when the price and quality is so good. Highly recommend to any foodies who would usually be drawn to more expensive tasting menus - the like of The Gannet/Cail Bruich fans - who are looking for a more casual and affordable...
Read moreWe popped out on a whim, we had intended to go to Coias just next door, however there was a 30+ minute wait for a table (we never thought to book) so decided to have a look and see what The Loveable Rogue had to offer. We were not disappointed.
I ordered the Roast Wrap (Sticky brisket / Garlic Roasties / Crushed Veg / Mac 'n' Cheese / Mustard Mayo / Red Wine Gravy) the wrap being a Yorkshire Pudding!!!!!! Fantastic, hugely enjoyable. My wife ordered the Loaded Potato Rosti (Sausage / Egg / Bacon / Black Pudding) This as with the Roast Wrap was excellent. After all of that we were full, but there was still a dessert to try! Salted Caramel Tart with Clotted Cream. This again was excellent.
Even the staff were excellent, quickly seating us, getting drinks and taking orders for food. The clean up was prompt, but not to make you feel like you were being chased out..Overall, an excellent afternoon lunch/brunch and we would highly...
