A little gem at Dumfries Station ☕🥪 Dumfries Station is one of the two train stations I often use when travelling down to London for meetings. And every time I do, I make sure to stop by the small café inside the station — a cosy, welcoming spot that always makes the journey feel a little warmer. The owner, who also happens to be the chef, is one of the happiest, most cheerful café owners I’ve ever met. His positive energy shows in his food too — nothing fancy, just freshly made rolls with different fillings, but they’re consistently delicious. A small episode today reminded me why I love this place so much. Just as he had finished cooking my lunch and was about to switch off the oven and close up after lunch hours, two ladies came in looking for a bite. They seemed to be regulars. Without hesitation, he turned the oven back on and reassured them not to worry about the time. Sure, you could say that’s just business — but the genuine warmth in his tone and conversation told a different story. It’s these little moments that put a smile on your face. If you ever pass through Dumfries — even just for a quick transfer — do yourself a favour and stop by the Station Café for a roll and a proper coffee from their restaurant-grade espresso machine. Highly recommended!

It's not just for rail passengers - great food and coffee!!! I decided I wanted a hearty brunch as I was travelling to Glasgow later today (by car) and likely to miss lunch. I hadn't been here since long before Covid and the cafe has changed hands. Daniel (Danny) the owner is from Ethiopia (Eritrean born) and takes great pride in his cafe and the quality of his food and drinks. I had two filled rolls and the lorne sausage and bacon were delicioius, as were the accompanying tattie scones. I would usually have a mug of tea with breakfast rolls, but Danny persuaded me to try his coffee. I was not disapponted. It was the first Ethiopian coffe that I had tasted and although it was strong, it was very smooth and not at all bitter. As I was sitting in, the coffee came in a huge 'Platinum Jubillee' cup with a proper handle. If you're in a hurry, or catching a train, then everything is available to takeaway; but if you're ready to chat then Danny will happily chew the fat with you.

This cafe provides a proper warm welcome to the area, make sure to time your train to its opening times and take the cosy vibes with you. Really good to see a real traditional cafe at a train station for once. I rudely came in not as a train passenger, but with a group from 2 cars driving through to Glasgow, and they still accommodated us well with great food and lattes. The chef is attentive and will try and ask for your orders to see if they can fit you around the train times as fast as possible, timing is everything here. The feeling of the cafe is traditional with some African decor. The food is excellent and it does mostly big bread rolls with the usual bacon, egg, sausage patty, haggis etc. The eggs were all cooked to perfect runniness even though it was busy. Very attentive and wholehearted service. Thank you, from Manchester
