Upon arrival, i had my mask on and used the hand sanitizer then went to sit with a friend but was stopped in my tracks by the girl at the counter and told to sign in with track and trace. I explained that my friend had already done it but she insisted that "everyone must do it" whether in a group or not. I did what was asked and sat down. My friend's wife then walked in but was not asked to give her details so i casually watched as numerous customers were allowed to come in, place their order with the same member of staff and sit down without ever being asked to do as i was instructed. Not entirely sure as to why i was singled out but i can assure you that i won't spend a single penny in this place again. Please note that i'm in no way against being asked to supply my details for this purpose but when the member of staff makes it quite clear that i "must" do it, i would expect the same rules to apply to everyone, otherwise, the whole process is...

Visited here for the first time last week... nice inside..has a very quiet vibe inside so great for relaxing.. ordered two lattes..hot chocolate and a cake which we're all nice. Our issue was the customer service specifically the curly haired woman with black hair and glasses taking the orders at the till. When we arrived we stood in front of the till and she just stood there looking at us..no hello or can I help please..she looked extremely miserable and we felt we were causing her her an inconvenience by being there...not even a thank you when we placed the order or paid for it. We did notice she had no problem laughing with her fellow staff member about something on her phone... Not nice when this particular staff member cannot even greet you when you enter..my advice to management would be to give her some customer service training for a nicer welcoming experience for...

Visited here for the first time recently but felt unsure on the "protocol" on how to get a table etc.

We wanted to sit inside but none of the staff really made an effort to make contact to explain whether to take a seat first before we order OR to order first then take a seat, despite us looking very confused.

Ended up just taking a menu ourselves and sitting down (still don't know if that's the way to do it or not), the table we sat at wasn't completely clean and some other tables had dishes still to be taken away.

The food itself was nice, albeit rather small portions in my opinion. The service was a little slow on the coffee front.

Overall we just found it quite an awkward experience and were left feeling still a bit peckish...

Kings are passionate about coffee and quality ingredients. Coffee is always on point and there's always a decent selection of lunchy bites and sweet treats on offer (expect some scrummy flavour combinations). Baristas are easy going yet attentive, leaving you to chill out and enjoy. I know that I'm well looked after while I'm sat in my comfy little bubble. Finally I come to what edged me on to fianlly getting round to making this review. The grilled cheese. Melty, stringy cheese in crispy jalapeno bread. Out of this world! I'm looking forward to my next visit to Dumfries so I can drop in. Hats off to you guys, keep it up!

A happy place that is part of the community. Service was very pleasant. Food good fun and tasty. Coffee good and tasted of coffee. Still it was salutary to walk the streets of Dunfries and see the closed shops, deteriorating decor etc. A reminder that the years since covid, and maybe longer, have not been kind to the UK economy. Mind you, Dumfries' high point was the end of the 18th century, so perhaps modern politicians are not the only ones to blame.

We stumbled on this place with hungry bellies and were so happy we did! Firstly- everything (minus pre made sweets) had a Gluten-free option, plus many labeled V/VE options which was perfect for our group. The vanilla blueberry matcha was out of this world and loved that they had alternative dairy products (for drinks and Sammies). Very inclusive, affordable, and filling! 5/5 for sure. If you’re feeling adventurous try the Kimcheese toastie. Divine.
