Board outside premises says 'Open for food' so we went in. There were no staff around so we saw an empty table and sat down. A few minutes later a man approached us and asked if he could help us with a tone of 'what are you doing here?' We looked at him startled and he asked if we had just walked in. We said we had, and he replied that he wasn't too sure and would have to check as they were rather busy in the kitchen. He went away and never returned. Another female member of staff walked past us 2 or 3 times ignoring us. We felt very unwelcome and the tone of this man was nothing but rude. We are visitors to Crieff and are staying for the week in the town and we're far from impressed. So after waiting another few minutes we got up and left. Nowhere outside the premises does it say to book first and we shall not be returning here. We walked further up the road to Avanti and were greeted warmly with a smile. This incident gave a very poor impression of The Tower and would have posted this zero star if there were...
Read moreI am leaving a bad review for you on TripAdvisor because your front of house manager was very rude to us. We have lived in Crieff for 14 years and been regulars of yours, being the only family at your family event. We were watching the football and our 7 year old boy was with us. He is VERY well behaved. She didn't even say hello or sorry. She just said 'Its 8 o clock you'll have to leave!!'. There are no signs up to say this. It's supposed to be a family friendly hotel!! I googled the law on this and it is 9pm!! I know you'll say it's up to you but I have been in other places a lot later. Pubs will be allowed to apply for special ``children's certificates'' next year, providing they have a bar that serves soft drinks and food. The under-14-year-olds, who must be accompanied by an adult, will have to leave by 9pm. I will not be back as there are other friendlier places that do have you in later. Good luck in your...
Read moreWhat a little gem of a place! Was going to an event in Crieff and added an hotel stay as a wee pre-Christmas treat. Beautiful festive entrance to the hotel, friendly reception who admitted they were having electrical issues and no power in some of the rooms. These things happen, no fuss required and issue fixed before we'd even realised. Room was amazing - superb views over Perthshire, super comfy king size bed, beautiful en-suite and the added bonus of a wee kitchen completely with full size fridge, 2 ring hob, kettle, toaster and microwave. Plenty of cutlery, plates, pots etc and even a bottle of Fairy Liquid for any washing up. As it was a cold night decided to stay for dinner rather than brave the elements - the most impressive fish and chips, hanging over the plate. The fish was the whitest, freshest, flakiest fish I've ever had. Husband had to "falling off the bone" ribs. A couple of drinks and we were...
