**HAVE TO ADD RE PARKING! We received a fine for £100 a few days after parking at 14 Bar &Grill Car Park!! We paid the amount shown on the machine, which btw was in darkness no lights shown. My son used the torch on his phone to help his Dad see the machine , it was pouring with rain and as I am disabled I waited by the car on my mobility scooter. The machine required £2 fee which my husband paid and received a receipt from the machine.. Naturally we thought we had complied with the parking rules. I have a Blue Badge but noted that there was no discount for this but this was no problem at all for us. .we expected to pay whatever the rate was. It took less than 5 minutes to get my scooter dismantled and into the boot of the car. The fine seems to not allow those few minutes and therefore charges into the next timeslot which costs a further £1 . Obviously we would have been perfectly prepared to pay the extra pound had it been requested at the machine . Any other car parks allow 5 to 10 minutes to get passengers, parcels etc on board and to leave the car park. This company insist that any appeal process is ended and will not recognise the ombudsman! To be honest, in our opinion this does seem like a very lucrative scam! Beware of ever parking there!
Arrived at the car park and as we were unloading my mobility scooter a member of staff asked if we were there for rooftop restaurant. He said he would have someone meet us on the 13th floor , which is where the lift stops, and there are a few steps up to the 14th floor. When we got to 13th floor a man met us and I transferred to an accessible lift to the next floor. Well done 14th Bar and Grill.🌟 I had indicated on the reservation that our party of 7 people where here to celebrate my granddaughter's Birthday plus my son's passing his driving test. Our waitress discreetly asked me which guests were celebrating . Unfortunately the roasts were all gone by our 5.30pm booking. Although everyone enjoyed the meals they'd ordered e.g. Thai green curry, fish and chips and steak and chips. On serving the desserts congratulations music started and waitresses appeared with two plates of chocolate cake with candles lit. One for my granddaughter and one for my son , which we had not expected. Thank you 🌟 Although the restaurant was very busy with lots of tables celebrating a variety of events we were well looked after by a friendly team of staff. ,,🌟 The ceiling lights make for a lovely atmosphere 🌟 The surrounding balcony gives great views over Liverpool (our couple of smokers appreciated the outdoor space ) and as darkness fell the view changed to a city of lights. It makes for a great place to bring any visitors to Liverpool.🌟 We really enjoyed our time , the bill for 7 of us for both food and drinks (plus the two desserts that were boxed to take home) was just over £300 ,🌟 and upon leaving I noticed a member of staff being asked to go to the accessible lift to meet me with my mobility scooter. So nice not to have to ask for help.🌟 These are the things that mattered to us on the night and it was agreed that we will return for the weeks leading up to Christmas. I hope this review helps others decide on visiting 14 Bar and Grill.. Btw....the coffee is also very, very good. 🌟.. SEE EDIT ABOVE! WE WILL NOT...
Read moreWe had booked a table for 18people after another restaurant let us down. We booked on Thursday 23rd to celebrate my mums birthday today on 26th February for a 2pm lunch. We advised on booking that the booking included my brother; who is in a wheelchair and my Nan who uses a mobility scooter. We arrived and there are two separate lifts. One from the ground to thirteenth floor, then a separate lift from 13th to 14th floor where the restaurant is located. The second lift is out of order. We were informed by the manager that he had called all bookings to let us know- he hadn’t. He refused to accept any responsibility and instead blamed everyone else from ourselves to the concierge on the front door. As my brother pointed out at this point we would have been happy with an acknowledgment that he had been messed up but he refused and became very confrontational.
Luckily my brothers managed to assist my youngest brother and Nan to the restaurant. When we were seated the service was very slow despite us being only one of four tables at that time. The serving staff were very lovely and polite but several times our orders were wrong or we had to ask for our missing drinks or food. The missing main (fish and chips) had to be asked for and was delivered to the table by a very curt manager. It was dripping in grease and was very overdone.
The food was ok. The roast is better at Toby carvery. The carrots were simply whole boiled carrots and the gravy had too much sweet jam in it. The roast beef had a lot of fat on it and at £18 per plate it was over priced in several peoples opinion. The views were lovely but the attitude of the manager, the slow service and the lack lustre food quality make a return extremely unlikely that we would return.
If the manager had owned his mistake and apologised from the outset it would have been quickly resolved as we accept everyone makes mistakes and it had been a last minute booking. However, his attitude stank and he refused to accept responsibility. The hostess and serving staff were polite and friendly but I suspect because of poor management the service was overall slow and as mentioned several orders were missed or incorrect.
Whilst we accept we were a large table the staff would benefit from a better system being in place as the current one just didn’t work to ensure that everything was efficiently run. The smaller tables around us didn’t appear to be having the same...
Read moreWe visited 14 bar and grill in January, the views are outstanding and this is what mainly attracted us to visit. Situated in an apartment block, we found it relatively easy to find but there is no parking so we had to park on a side street P&D. The first issue was that we had numerous waiters/waitresses throughout the evening and we found the communication between staff to be poor (asking us multiple times if we wanted drinks when they had already been ordered). We were constantly having to get a staff members attention to order drinks and food. There were lots of screaming infants running under and around guests tables which we also found irritating.. this ideally should have been addressed with the guests and rectified. For starter we ordered duck Sushi which was to put it bluntly, inedible (you may as well have ordered rice balls, there was virtually no duck filling). We also ordered halloumi as a starter which ended up being the best thing we ate all night. For mains we ordered the trio of pork which we were the most excited about.. again, very standard and not the quality we were expecting. The apple sauce was vile and the meat was tough and incredibly fatty. We had planned to order a desert but with the starter and main being so disappointing we decided against it. Each course is also served on a random giant leaf with added flowers on top.. We found this a little pointless and tacky. The main was served on a narrow plate which as stated in another review, proved to be extremely difficult to use your knife and fork on without the food slipping everywhere. We also ordered a side portion of fries, thank god we did or we would have left starving. Upon asking for our bill (one of the many times we had to approach a member of staff) we noticed we were over charged for our main courses.. I pointed this out to a staff member and it was rectified though she did not seem surprised so I would advise checking your bill before paying! The only reason I am giving this place two stars is because the view is fantastic and it would be a great spot for cocktails/drinks. This hidden gem could be great if they improved the quality of the menu items and organised their staff better. Overall, very disappointed and will not...
