We visited for a 70th birthday. On arrival no staff present to greet so we just walked in and found our reserved table ourselves. I then went to the bar to place our order.. quite slow service due to alot of items being unavailable.. man at bar was very polite and nice though , this issue was out of their hands but it does need sorting.
We waited around 40mins for food ... when it was brought over the waitress barely spoke , she just placed our food down . I had to ask for gravy as the children's meals didn't have it , she responded with there might be an extra charge (I then showed her the menu where it clearly states served with gravy). When she brought the gravy she came with a 2nd pot which she practically slammed down and said there that should be enough gravy !... she was clearly having a bad day.
Our steak meals were all done when we asked for all 3 to be medium rare , we were also missing vine tomatoes but I didn't want to ask because of the mood the waitress was in , we felt highly unwelcome and an inconvenience.
The nicest bit of the food was the BBQ sauce that my partner asked for , I mean you should be worried when that is the nicest bit !
Not one check back ... I went to the bar to order desserts . When they came our plates were all still on the table from our mains ... again the waitress huffed that she had to move them almost like I should have moved them to another table.... Again .... she didn't even ask if the food was OK, if she did I'd have told her it WASN'T. We ate the food because we don't like to waste but we didn't enjoy it .
Bare in mind this was also a birthday meal for my mums 70th , she didn't get one happy birthday off a single member of staff (she had a shash and headband)
The bold arms really need some customer service training , waitress training and either more chefs or a little work on the current chef . I'm no chef but I produce better quality food at home ! But for a birthday it can be...
Read moreI took my 89 year old farther out for Sunday lunch here. I do not live in Southport. We were told to sit anyway. We ordered are main, to be told to wait over an hour. My father ordered gammon which he said was ok. I then waited 3/4 minutes for my Sunday beef lunch. They said the plate was hot and to be careful. I thanked her and had a look at it. The plate was not hot, nor the food. The only thing that was. Was the gravy. The manager came and was informed, that in my opinion it was not eatable. Change my order to a beef burger. He refunded my meal, which I didn't expect. We then decided we would have a sweet. In between this time we were told that the table we were sat at was reserved. But they would put them in the next table. This was around 5pm and they would still be serving till later on in the day. I was informed one of the sweets was not available and no coffee as machine was not working. So we chose a different one and had that. We left after 2 hours and 46 minutes. As two weeks after this visit to receive in the mail a parking charge notice of £60. Apparently I was not authorized to park there. There are terms and conditions which apparently are shown in the signage which is clearly displayed in the carpark. Well it was obviously not as both my self and farther did not see this. All I can say this was a nightmare of a day, which has now continued in to now trying to figure out how to provide proof we did not see any warnings. I will never go back and suggest any body that does to be aware of how much a pub lunch will cost you in the end. I have emailed Jo the owner as requested and as yet no response!!!! Jo has now responded and has reimbursed my car park fine. This was unexpected but very welcome. Lesson...
Read moreAs locals, we visit The Bold regularly and it never disappoints. It’s a truly welcoming, family-friendly, and dog-friendly pub, which makes it a favourite of ours. One of the main reasons we keep coming back is the incredible manager, Jo. She has a natural gift for making everyone feel at home. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, she’ll greet you with a big smile, remember your name, and most likely have you laughing within minutes.
Jo’s warmth and energy set the tone for the whole place. The atmosphere is always lively, the food is consistently great, and the staff go above and beyond. If you’re after a traditional pub with a friendly vibe and outstanding service, we can’t recommend The Bold...
