Historic local pub in the beautiful Churchtown. Great atmosphere and dog-friendly. I have visited on many occasions and have often dined here. The food is utterly delicious. It is on the pricey side compared to offerings from other pubs, but we’re not talking traditional pub fare here—this is far superior restaurant-quality food, prepared with love, and highly recommended. The most recent visit was for my mum’s birthday. My husband had the roast dinner, a guaranteed winner. There is usually a choice of roast meats or an option to have them all (yes, that’s what he chose). The vegetables arrive in their own separate serving dishes and the portions are more than ample. The roasted carrots are worthy of particular praise. My mum had the sea bass, and in a first for me, I decided to try the chicken parmigiana👌🫠 I have never had dessert here because I am always too full. In fact, ask for a doggie bag. We always take advantage of this option and our dogs thank us. Bonus points from me for the coffee. It’s great quality. I don’t know what blend they use but I love it. On our last visit, we were served by Hannah and Jack, and our food was prepared by Dan and Carl. I know this because we were given these details when we paid our bill, which I love. They all did a magnificent job. The Hesketh arms is well worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Wow. What a great visit to Hesketh Arms we had. Keith gave us such a warm welcome and looked after us throughout our visit. He is one of the friendliest people we have met. Keith knew the menu off by heart and informed us what we needed to know. He was attentive and so pleasant. I just wish we had had some spare cash to leave as a tip as we only had our card to pay the bill with. The food was amazing and plenty of it. The lamb duo is superb and the home made pie was perfection. Hot food cooked perfectly. Hats off to all the staff at the Hesketh Arms. A must visit. It was clean with plenty tables and space to move about. We also loved that it is dog friendly as we love all animals. Great selection of drinks at the bar too. Parking is on site and the village is perfect for an afternoon stroll through the botanical gardens. Go see the aviary within the gardens. Lovely walk with pond and birds/rabbits/guinea pigs. Superb visit to Churchtown. Thank you all

Good service and food and a lovely pub, with friendly staff, but we went for Christmas day dinner there and for 8 of us on a table, we were very, very cramped. I obviously appreciate the staff working on Christmas day, but we were very disappointed with the table we were booked on. Half of our group on one side could barely fit in because of the bar behind us, one the left side, the person on the end was being brushed past as people walked through what felt like a thoroughfare for not only customers, but waiting staff and pub management - felt very awkward and umcomfortable. Given it was a busy day and obviously staff were very stretched - I appreciate all the hard work and service they provided. But that said it was sad to have spent so much money, and to be seated at what felt like a makeshift arrangement. Would not go back for Christmas day meal.

Certain would never recommend. Travelled 4 hours to meet my daughter in law for this absolute rubbish! Duck salad. Rock hard black charcoaled duck. Definitely NOT fresh. Microwaved?! Triple cooked chips, dry as a bone and mealy like they were frozen too long. Burger was just appalling. Appeared old and freezer burnt, certainly not freshly cooked food. Dry as a bone also and a strange texture.( In fact I did wonder whether they had given her a veggie burger is was such a strange texture and so dry). Tasteless meals. Both meals and drinks left. Waste of over £30. Both members of staff were well aware there was a problem and both did nothing which is the worst thing you can do especially when you’d already got the drink order wrong. Churchtown is a lovely little village but this place was a huge disappointment, overpriced & staff shocking! Yuk

First visit= My Wife & I were greeted with the warmest welcome all staff could not of been more polite & helpful. The place is lovely the food was delightful. Would advise anyone to visit be it a drink of meal.🍺🍷🥂🍽🍽☕🍰😉👍 Second visit= Just as good actually better had the best Sunday Roast in...forever. We took my Wifes mum out & we all had the amazing Trio Roast I mean #wow it had it all. Complements to the chef & the staff again could not of been more helpful & polite. Even the manager was understanding when we asked if we could move to the next table as we had our dog Luna with us & was a bit nervous with the traffic of people coming back & forth. We really appreciated that. The open fire was a much welcome addition as we were drenched & cold from the storm outside. Lovely & cosy with delicious food & drink. Worth every penny.🍽🍹👍💗😁🐩🐾🐾

Had fantastic service and food here tonight. All the staff were fab Dave who served us was fab and the lovely girl who took us to our table and got are first drink was amazing (sorry didn't get her name) the place is spotless inside and the food was fab. First time we have been but will not be the last. Atmosphere was lovely and felt really welcome. Venue is dog friendly and this is very important to us as our boy comes everywhere with us. And the staff got him water and treated him the same way as they treated us. The food is on the expensive side of other places in Southport but the quality, service and surroundings justify the price and if you download the app you do get a 10.00 off 40.00 pound min spend that we used. Thank you to all the team for a lovely visit and hopefully see you again soon Lee,David and Monty xx
