Visited Emily’s yesterday with a friend to enjoy a Coffee before a long beach walk. Upon arrival the host stood at the door informed us there where no seats available only bar seats, this was fine we was only having a coffee, there where 6 members of staff behind the bar, not one acknowledged us, not one asked what we would like or if we needed more time after clearly looking at the menu and placing them on the bar waiting to be served. I asked a staff member behind the bar if we could place an order, he replied ‘can you give me 5’ now had this been as we had just arrived and he was the only meme we of staff this would have been an appropriate response but we had waited some 7-8 minutes and there where 6 members of staff behind the bar. A reluctant member of staff then asked when we would like and I ordered 2 coffees, he said I’ll get the lad to do them in a minute, so clearly we would have waited longer. The host then approached us and informed us a table had become free and would we like to sit down, we accepted and moved to the seated area. There appeared to be approx 20 members of staff working, all smiling and appearing to enjoy their day but clearly there interest in customer service was lacking, we waited a further 5 minutes after being seated for our Hot drinks, which arrived without teaspoons, which we had to ask for, now rather than the waitress we asked collecting and providing them she asked someone else, so yes, we waited longer. The coffee wasn’t bad and was hot. I then asked a waitress, different to the first for a glass of water and yes, you guessed it, she again asked another member of staff to get it, 5 minutes or so went by and I asked the initial waitress how long the water would be and she said, I’ve put it through the till, a glass of Tao water which she could have got herself in a matter of seconds she had out through the till for another member of staff to make. When it’ll we had finished our coffee we wasn’t asked if we would like another we was just presented with a bull we had t yet asked for, so assumed the waitress along with the car machine would arrive imminently, again it never and we had to ask to pay, this member of staff again rather than acquiring the card machine asked another colleague who arrived and we promptly paid. Despite the large numbers of staff, no one appeared to be working their own section or have any responsibility for an area with their own customers to serve. Staff asking other staff to perform minor customer requests rather than doing it efficiently themselves damaging customer service/ experience and delaying what should have been a quick request. Previous experience last year was also similar. Won’t...

Booked a table at Emilys to celebrate my birthday. And I have never been so disappointed in the customer service we received when eating here.
When we entered and were ‘greeted’ by the front of house he simply said ‘have you booked?’ No ‘hello, welcome to Emily’s’. The lack of hospitality was bewildering.
We were then shown to our table and we were seated in the covered outside area in the back. It wasn’t a particularly cold day, but the heaters above the table were blasting out unbearable heat. We had to ask for this to be turned off. We noticed a few other customers also struggling with these heaters.
It took 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. Even then, it was only for drinks order. We tried to say that we were ready to order our food as well, but he had left by the time I had the chance. After waiting a further 15 mins for our drinks to come (which were spilt when the waiter put them down and gave no apology for), we finally were able to order our food. The waiter took our order and made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than a paying customer. We noticed other tables around us get seated, order and receive their food and drink even before we had our order taken. This seems to be a ‘if your face fits’ you will get better customer service type of place. I have read other reviews say the same. When we ordered our drinks, we requested for some water for the table. After a further 2 times of asking, we finally got some water.
Our food was put down and we were not asked if we wanted any sauce for our chips or if there is anything else we needed. This surely should be a standard question? The food was nice and presented nicely, although a little pricy for the portion size.
We then waited a further 15 mins for our plates to be cleared away and a card machine brought over to pay. Even when paying or leaving the restaurant no one acknowledged us and said thank you for coming. Again, made to feel like we were unconvincing the staff by being there.
This place has a lot of potential but it’s lack of customer service lets it down dramatically. I hope the owners take this feedback onboard and start to look at their levels of customer service. I look forward to a non helpful response from owners as this seems to be the way they like to deal with negative...
Read moreFirst of all sat on my chair that was soaking wet soaked through to my trousers so sat the whole time with a wet bottom thanks! Second of all the table next to us dropped there full drink witch again soaked my trousers and trainers… third it was our 10 year anniversary witch was stated to them and we was even welcomed by the staff member on the door who mentioned about our special occasion as it was in the special occasion notes, absolutely nothing done for it not a candle a desert a song and dance not a thing literally not paid attention to in the least… we eat in many top restaurants and have had so many birthday occasions and other occasions in quality restaurants with excellent service for the occasion I would class this as poor you only get one 10 year anniversary and we chose to go here and regretted it! This is our second time attending Emily’s the first time It was really busy and the food did taste overall good but was lukewarm so we fought we would give it a go again tonight was just not good the wagyu burger was overcooked, the mash for the kids had no flavour and was like a dollop of slop on the kids plate my daughter who is 8 complained with pains after eating, the sausages were well undercooked and the only thing that was hot was in the whole meal was the chips the gnocchi was poor! Overall not good at the end was still hit with a service charge witch I always pay even though it’s at the diners discretion I don’t ever mind as most places we eat it is deserved sometimes even a tip on top tonight it just wasn’t we won’t be attending again just fought I would leave a honest review all the little things I can deal with even a wet bottom but the 10 year anniversary probably was the worst part we will never get this night back again we could of went elsewhere and had a much better experience I hope they see this review and take note it’s the least they can do thanks for the wet...
