Firstly we live an hour and a half away from this site, we have had bad experiences with our local miller and carter's in the past, we decided to give them another shot at the newly opened branch in southport. On entry the site was clean and tidy. We had our 4 kids with us and we were well looked after and seated immediately with highchairs already in place. We ordered drinks and they came quickly and shortly after we ordered food. Everything was perfect, I ordered the butchers block and all the meat was cooked to perfection, bone marrow brisket was lovely as well as all the sides that came with it. The kids burgers were doubled up and went down a treat. Staff were amazing helpful and polite. 10/10 and next time we want to visit a miller and carter I won't hesitate on what site to visit. Edit - I see people commenting on the price... yes the bill will be over £100 but your not at a chippy or the local Chinese.... I hate the fact people comment on the price of a upper quality steak house on the price of their food. If you want cheap go to mcdonalds regurgitate crap... if you want quality then expect to pay more the the service and food your receiving.

We went here to celebrate our anniversary. We were served quickly and chose to share a Chateaubriand between us. I usually have a flawless experience in Miller and Carter but unfortunately I cannot say this time was flawless. Our server firstly attempted to give us the wrong drinks and then the wrong food. When the Chateaubriand arrived it was smaller than previously times and the side portions were also small. However, everything was cooked to perfection and we enjoyed our food despite the portion size being small. I could not help but notice as we were eating, small children were running around the restaurant with parents dressed in tracksuits. I know for a fact Miller and Carter does not allow sportswear and allows only smart-casual wear. This did impact the atmosphere in the restaurant for myself and other customers, however food/ drinks were pretty much spot on!

Steak was quite nice but very expensive our bill for two was over £60 and that is with the 50% discount. Tables are very small consistent with the Toby Carvery style so when the Chateaubriand arrived we had to place plates on the floor around us. We chose the sharing camembert as starter along with the cheese garlic bread nibbles. Probably a wrong choice as it was to bready and quite dry. The steak was well cooked but chips were very poor, dry and pasty. They serve this with half a lettuce and sauce of your choice which is fine but on a tiny table it's a bit of a struggle. The atmosphere is dark, bit like the old Bernie inns, you walk into a rather pretentious reception through racks of wine bottles. Overall it is ok but very expensive for otherwise average food. I give it three stars.

Hate doing negative reviews but this had to be done as I’m absolutely disgusted with what i was served today, my wife and i ordered starters of chipotle chicken bites and mushrooms in a cheddar sauce, my chicken bites were served raw not just 1 of them it was a few, they recooked it and it was ok-ish the 2nd time but my wife had more or less finished hers by the time i’d waited for mine to be cooked properly..what chef can’t cook a chicken nugget, beggars belief, her starter was ok just not a lot of flavour..main meal i ordered their recommended Dirty burger with fries and my wife had the bacon and cheese burger and we also added 3 sides of mac & cheese, salad and garlic mushrooms, the burgers were tasteless and like rubber or as we described them a cheap farm foods burger from a pack of 20, the dirty burger was meant to have steak on it as well as pulled beef, hard to tell what was what as it all just tasted the same, the fries were so salty i had to drown them in the side of gravy to mask the salt, my wife’s meal wasn’t any better, her burger was chewy and bland, she couldn’t eat her fries at all for the amount of salt, now for the sides, the salad was smothered in avocado so you couldn’t taste anything else, the garlic mushrooms was missing the garlic and was so bland, the mac and cheese tasted sour so not sure if that was meant to taste like that or the cheese was off either way it was disgusting, overall that little lot cost £75 and all we’d ate was some of the burger, chicken bites once they were properly cooked and the cheddar mushrooms, alarm bells should’ve rang when we saw how empty it was in there, wasn’t even offered a discount or a dessert for free for serving me raw chicken, it was the worst meal we’ve ever had and definitely would never try another, to not be able to cook a chicken nugget properly and then charge ridiculous prices is absolutely shocking!

In reply to your response, thank you for your quick reply, however firstly please don’t undermine my review i know what raw chicken tastes and looks like, secondly your server did not mention that to me anytime at all that it was chicken thigh meat, we “assumed” it was thigh meat by the colour which is totally fine but doesn’t take away from the fact it was RAW!!!! so please get your facts right if you’re going to respond..and as i said on my initial review i don’t like leaving negative reviews however for a steakhouse charging your prices i would not expect raw chicken served to me, if you was so concerned that i was wrong and you was right then why didn’t you approach me and yes your reply has deterred me from ever stepping foot in...

I will start this by saying at other Miller & Carters we have had 5* expriences. . But at Ainsdale for our first visit we were a bit disappointed. Booked a table and arrived seated nicely enough. It took only 10 minutes do be served and have drinks but then 35 minutes after that to get out starters. The waitress apologised saying she tried to hurry the kitchen with no luck. Then another 35-40 minutes to get out main course which was poor. My wife had the chicken which comes with chips and broccoli but they forgot about the broccoli! They genuinely served her chicken and chips on its own for that price!!!! My steak was ok slightly overcooked but at this point I was too hungry. It was treat out so I treated myself to the £11 lobster tail and they forgot it! When, after 5 minutes of being served, we finally managed to catch the attention of a waiter we pointed out the mistakes and within 60 seconds our missing food arrived. This indicated that it had been cooked but they simply forgot to plate it up?! Did the chefs look at it and think 🤔 nah I always cook too much lobster tails! The food was ok, nothing to write about in terms of quality, no compensation offered for long waits or missing food. No real apology from our waiter. If this was my first and only visit to a Miller & Carter I wouldn't be going back any time soon. I think I'll go back to the Aughton restaurant that have been...

Many of my friends try restaurants including me. We love food. So far on several attempts we have yet to have good food in this Miller and Carter. Very overpriced. Expect to pay at least £50 each. Now dont get me wrong they do have deals for around £25 but by the time you get starters and get drinks it get expensive quick. One friend had fillet steak. Tough as boots! Asked for rare got very well done. Took 45 mins to arrive. Then he tried to complain by time manager czme. He said maybe we could do another but took so long his party had finished mains and were halfway through dessert. My friend is a professional chef. He said no they still charged him for meal he didn't eat! Second friend had lunch. Third friend went 4 steaks and drinks. For him and family. They don't do desserts. Total bill 4 steaks drinks over £300. Super slow service. Had cheek to want a tip!! I've been in myself. Place been renovated since it was carvery. Still not that high end. Most people in there are drinking not eating. I go past often. Often very empty. Some nights super busy. Been in wasn't treated that good. Menu took so long coming I got up and got one myself. In end gave up waiting. Didn't even get a drink. Was offered a free drink. For 2 of us. Only coffee so I declined. I didn't book. And others booked under there names. Just wanted to leave a real review. And its based on both my and friends...
