Just want to give you an Honest review we had two big breakfast @ £9.50 each bit on the expensive side for what you received for a cafe. The 2 sausages on each plate slightly over cooked and very dry, poach eggs came on one of the two plates in pieces could do with investing in egg poacher maker rather than straight in a pan of boiling water that should sort this problem out, breakfasts came with one piece of toast most large breafasts come with two toast, the smaller breakfast has one piece of toast. we had two coffee's and a small pure orange bill came to £26.60 I think £22.60 would of been a fair price what we received, we had to try and make one coffee last for over an hour by the time we finished which was mission impossible otherwise the bill would've of been over £30. The owner and young lady serving were lovely, very nice and polite very clean cafe food was nice apart from my issuses I pointed out and then having to wait 48 minutes from ordering to receiving our food which to be honest was way to long for me the place only had two other guest eating so it was due to been over run with ongoing orders. I personally wouldn't return for a second visit purely due to the cost of food and waiting time for the food to be received this was way to long for cafe or any fast food place. The food apart from poached eggs which can be fix the sausage are Cumberland which are a dry sausage meat less fat so I get that issue I personally am not to keen on these type of sausages they were slightly on the over cooked side for me apart from that don't be put off if your prepared to wait overall nice clean food and breakfast for a cafe with lovely polite people inside to...
Read moreI really love the squirrel tea room. It's such a lovely cosy place to go. The atmosphere is friendly and the owners are both really kind, too.
My daughter is dairy free (allergy), and the owners always do her scambled egg without milk and serve her toast with free from spread. They remember each time we go in. They also can do their smoothies without milk and do a delicious dairy free chocolate milkshake. I have even tried one of their smoothies, which they kindly made without dairy or apple juice (I'm allergic to apple!), and it was delicious. They brought out the packets of smoothie mix so I could check the ingredients.
They do serve food, which always looks amazing but I've only ever eaten chips as a meal as I'm intolerant to so many things, I find eating out difficult (however their chips were very tasty, and I am fussy with chips). They seve a variety of cakes too, which always look delicious.
They have recently started to make vegan and gluten-free cakes. Today I got to try the GF/DF chocolate fudge cake and it was one of the best cakes I've ever had. If you follow them on Instagram, you can see what's on offer each week.
They also offer alternative milks for tea and coffee.
It's such a lovely cafe, and the owners are always really welcoming and try to be as accommodating as possible. They have, however, stopped serving food after 3 pm, (other than toast or cakes).
I highly recommend going there, if I could give more...
Read moreI love The Squirrel tea room. Myself and my husband have had both breakfast and lunch there, on various occasions. The food is always fresh and cooked to order and tastes delicious. I have had a veg breakfast and my husband had a big breakfast and we both really enjoyed them. There is also an option for gluten free bread. The home made soup is always lovely. The last one I had there was cream of mushroom. There is always a daily special. We had the homemade quiche special once, which was delicious and came with salad and slaw. The fries are also fab, with options to load with cheese, or bacon, cheese and jalepenos ( my husband opted for this) There is a good selection of hot and cold drinks and our hot drinks came with a piece of home made choc topped fudge, which tasted divine. The owner of the tearoom is really welcoming. This tearoom feels like a community hub too as there is a plant swap and also an art gallery displaying work by local artists, which I loved seeing. We popped in for tea and cake one mid afternoon and I had gluten free lemon cake which was delicious, whilst my husband opted for a scone with jam and cream. Really nice...
