We visited The Mallard for early lunch Friday 6/6. My Mum had fish & chips and I had the pie (steak & ale). The food was fabulous, so tasty & fresh. But the real star of the show was Lyndsey! She had such a friendly demeanour. She welcomed us and all others with a smile and nothing was too much trouble for her! She was working alone front of house… but had it running like clockwork. She checked in on us just enough and was never overpowering. I can’t really comment on the atmosphere as there were only 4-5 tables in, but judging by the boards saying ‘What’s on’ - live music etc I’m sure it would be fantastic! We will be returning for sure!!

Good atmosphere, however when ordering the main dish of 2 x mixed grills with 2 x peppercorn sauce, the mixed grill meat was split between two so one piece of chicken cut in half and served on two plates, it was burnt to a crisp and salty, the same was done with the steak and pork, cut in half, the peas were cold and the peppercorn sauce forgotten about, when asked for them had to wait a further 15 minutes and it was runny like water, they only brought one and when asked for a second it was brought over in a ceramic dish, people friendly enough, but wouldn't eat there again. Awful food

Had a great lunch here today. First time visiting since it has been taken over & will definitely return. Fabulous homemade burger, fries & coleslaw & fish finger sandwich (again homemade) & chips. Tasted amazingly fresh & we weren’t expecting such large portions so make sure you build your appetite before you visit! Friendly, welcoming staff, very clean. And I asked, they are dog friendly too.

Called here after an afternoon with friends & kites at the beach. I wasn't expecting anything too exciting, standard burger and chips I thought. The staff behind the bar and waiting on the table were great, very friendly, cheerful and welcoming. We each ordered burgers & onions rings. The burgers were all spot on, very juicy, pink in the middle, nicely topped. The chips were equally good, well seasoned and piping hot. The onion rings were the star of the show. At first I didn't order any, I was concerned that they would be that onion paste rather than slices of onions. I checked at the bar and the lady said they were slices, so I added some. I'm glad I did. They were the amazing. Crispy batter, lovely soft onion, perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend this place, next time we go to the beach and want some food on the way home,...

Wow! Honestly I cannot fault the meal we had here! Went as a spare of the moment evening out (couldn't be bothered cooking myself) I was not disappointed. Just me and my partner went. I had the pork belly... It was AMAZING! My partner had the casserole of the day which was lamb and my god it looked good. So fresh and home made. He would not let me try his. And then we also got a side of the poutine. Think this was the show stopper. The portion sizes were huge and I really struggled to eat it all. But I sure wasn't leaving any!
