Apna Style — Restaurant in Sheffield

We went to this place a few weeks ago after a friend had recommended it to me saying it "is the best Pakistani food in Sheffield". From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by friendly customers making recommendations to us about what to have. We ended up having the boneless lamb and fish handi served with some rice, a paratha and a naan. It took a while to come but we didn't mind because it was fresh and oh my goodness so amazing. I especially loved the Fish Handi - so flavoursome. Loved the fresh ginger in it. We will definitely be back to try more! The staff were lovely and we just enjoyed the overall experience. Been to this place a few times now and always left having enjoyed a lovely meal. The premises are just really a takeaway with a few tables and open plan kitchen. It's not somewhere you would go for valentines and hope to impress your lady..!!!. However if you're only focus is good food then try to sit and eat there as it will be freshly made and served in the dish rather than a takeaway container. I've tried different dishes here both Meat and Vegetables...always excellent. Key point here is the Tandoori Roti and Chappatis are made using wholemeal flour which is much healthier than standard bleached white flour, which again is more authentic and reminiscent of village style bread in places like Kashmir and Pakistan. My wife and I ate here on a Wednesday afternoon and wanted a light lunch, which included their Fish Pakora starter and their Apna style Special biryani mains. We opted for the spicy (hot) level rather than mild option. The pakora was very tasty and made with good quality fish and in a light coating. The biryani which contained lamb & chicken was superb and probably the best we have had in a restaurant. It had a depth of flavour and the right level of heat for our tastes.
